In the era of information explosion,it is very important to screen and make reasonable judgment of all kinds of information,which requires the young people as the "main force" of the country to have critical thinking ability.Social science issues(Socio-scientific Issues,SSI)because of its controversial and moral dilemma is very suitable for critical thinking training material,through the relevant literature,found that the compulsory education research on SSI teaching,and based on SSI applied to biology teaching is less.Therefore,this study aims to explore the effectiveness of using SSI teaching method to cultivate students' critical thinking in junior middle school biology teaching,in order to provide a reference for junior middle school biology teaching.This research uses literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and other methods,including:(1)the research status of SSI teaching at home and abroad;(2)the status investigation of students and teachers,and analyzes the necessity and feasibility of using SSI teaching method in junior middle school biology teaching;(3)teaching practice research.First,the theoretical basis is determined,students' critical thinking ability is mastered through questionnaire survey,and the current situation of critical thinking cultivation is understood through teacher interviews.Secondly,through the study of the junior high school biology textbook biology and the curriculum standards of junior high school biology,the relevant chapters suitable for SSI teaching and the corresponding SSI topics in the textbook are excavated and sorted out.According to the cognitive characteristics of junior high school students and cultivate students' critical thinking ability,design in line with the junior high school students critical thinking ability of teaching design,purposeful and planned SSI teaching practice,chose two similar class,a class adopts the traditional teaching method,the other half of the class using SSI teaching,choose "antibiotics" and "biodiversity protection and resource development" two teaching design.Finally,the teaching reflects on the teaching design case of using SSI teaching method to cultivate students' critical thinking in the junior middle school biology teaching,and the statistical analysis of the results of SPSS 26.0 software drew the research conclusions.The practical research shows that(1)SSI teaching method can significantly improve students 'critical thinking ability in fairness,truth,analysis ability and aspects,and treat controversial problems with scientific and correct attitude;(2)SSI teaching can make the teaching process more diverse and improve students' participation;and(3)students have a certain degree of critical thinking ability,but need to stimulate students' critical thinking potential and guide them with scientific and effective methods.The innovation of this research is the SSI teaching and the cultivation of critical thinking in organic fusion in biology teaching,lead the students into the SSI created real situation in the thinking of controversial,help students learn to make decisions scientifically,the false,critically view the problem,for SSI teaching organic into junior middle school biology teaching.
