| For a long time,the public has misunderstood and biased the perception of the role of nurses.Medical staff have attracted much attention during the COVID-19 epidemic.The news related to nurses during this period helps people to understand and recognize the role of nurses in depth.This study uses questionnaire survey and interview methods to investigate the public’s perception of the role of nurses,and explores the public’s exposure to the media during the COVID-19 epidemic,and studies the impact of news reports involving nurses on the public’s perception of the role of nurses.The results of the study are as follows.Firstly,the public now has a high evaluation of nurses.They can recognize the meaning of nurses’ work,understand the hard work of nurses,recognize the professionalism of nurses’ work,and express optimism about the relationship between nurses and patients.But they also admit that nurses do not have ideal social status.Secondly,during the COVID-19 epidemic,people are very dependent on the media,and most of them have been exposed to news reports about nurses.Thirdly,many factors can affect people’s perception of the role of nurses,such as whether they have a medical background,the length of their media contact during the epidemic,the frequency and type of news involving nurses they contacted.Finally,during the COVID-19 pandemic some reports had some problems in constructing the media image of nurses.For example,some reports were too simple,the content was not innovative,and some reports caused negative effects.Therefore,if the media wants to use news to construct a media image of nurses,they need to make in-depth reports on major events.At the same time,it is necessary to use details to increase the resonance of the audience and pay attention to the objectivity of the news.And it is also necessary to use multiple channels to disseminate information,and use opinion leaders to guide public opinion. |
