The development of new media technology has changed the mode of people’s interpersonal communication.The emotional bond between people has surpassed the limitations of geographical and blood relationship.In the cyberspace,a large number of interest groups have formed centered on common interests.In the process of communication,individuals actively seek to make up for the psychological deficiencies in modern life,seek self-identification and sense of belonging,and realize group-identification by integrating into the group,which has gradually become one of their ways to construct identification.This article takes the online game Sky:Children of Light as the research object,through a combination of participatory observation and in-depth interviews,to conduct research on the identification of online game interest group,with the purpose of obtaining the communication style of online game interest group and the process of identification construction and providing practical reference for the healthy use of game media.The subjects of observation were mainly QQ groups,supplemented by game communities on online platforms such as Bilibili and Microblog;32 interviewees were selected for in-depth interviews,and nearly 140,000 words of interview materials were collected.The study found that the process of constructing identification of the online game interest group is divided into two aspects: On the one hand,the individuals in the Sky:Children of Light game group carry out diversified and unique game practical activities based on their own experience,and self-identification can be realized through two ways of “self-reflection”and“referring to others”;on the other hand,through group interaction and communication activities,the sense of belonging of the group is cultivated,group-identification is constructed in the cyberspace,and the virtual community is formed.The innovative of this thesis is that many scholars currently focus on the game text,while ignoring the players’ active interpretation of the game.In this paper,by studying the interest group based on the unique social game Sky:Children of Light,it explores the identification mechanism of the group,and explores how players can pursue themselves through active meaning creation,so as to avoid losing control and seek to enrich the current research on the identification of the interest group of online games.
