Biodiversity is the basis of ecosystem balance and the guarantee of ecosystem services.However,urban sprawl has led to a decline in the size and quality of natural habitats and serious damage to biodiversity.Waders are wetland waterbirds,which are located in the upper layer of the ecosystem and have strong sensitivity to the external environment.At present,the research on bird habitat restoration and construction in the field of landscape architecture is mainly qualitative analysis,lacking quantitative data support and scientific deduction process.Habitat Suitability Index(HSI)model is used to examine the interaction between wild animals and habitats,describe the habitat quality of wild animals,and quantify the optimal environmental characteristics of living organisms.Therefore,the quantitative analysis tool of HSI model was introduced in this paper for quantitative assessment of habitat quality,so as to judge the state of the lower ecological group and the health of the ecosystem based on the living conditions of wading birds,so as to provide scientific basis for biodiversity protection,natural habitat restoration and human-bird relationship balance.This paper firstly summarized relevant literatures to demonstrate the value and significance of wading bird protection in biodiversity protection,proved the application value of HSI model in habitat protection,summarized its application direction in bird habitat restoration,and summarized the construction method of HSI model,which laid a theoretical foundation for the construction of wading bird HSI model and habitat suitability evaluation in the study area.Taking Xuanwu Lake area of Zijin Mountain in Nanjing as an example,this paper discusses the application process of HSI model in wading bird habitat restoration.Taking Xuanwu Lake area of Zijinshan Mountain as the research site and common wading birds in the study area as the research object,based on habitat selection and literature collection,the HSI model of wading birds in the study area was constructed by combining subjective and objective methods from three aspects: foraging,nesting and human disturbance.Moreover,habitat data were obtained through field measurement and literature collection and imported into Arc GIS 10.2.2 to evaluate habitat suitability of wading birds.The results showed that the overall habitat suitability in the study area was relatively high.Habitat areas rated as "superior" had shallow water depth,abundant aquatic plants,suitable nesting sites and low human activities.Habitat areas rated as "poor" were characterized by frequent human activity and heavy external disturbance.Based on the habitat suitability evaluation results of wading birds in the study area,habitat restoration strategies were proposed from the perspective of landscape architecture at both macro and micro levels.At the macro level,the ecological network of the study area was adjusted to expand water and increase wetland area to improve water ecological quality.Based on vegetation restoration,the forest community was optimized to improve green space habitat.From the micro level,the water body design strategy,vegetation design strategy,terrain design strategy,recreation design strategy and facility design strategy are proposed for habitat restoration in the study area.Finally,taking Nanjing Biwa Lake Park as an example,the realization process of the micro-level design strategy is discussed,hoping to realize the reasonable protection of wading bird habitat through the intervention of design,so that the design can return to nature,realize the design vision of symbiosis between human and bird,and create an urban park with birds singing and flowers.In this paper,the habitat suitability index model was introduced to quantitatively analyze the habitat suitability of wading birds,and a multidisciplinary approach was adopted to propose habitat restoration strategies for wading birds.From the perspective of landscape architecture,the intervention of landscape means was used to balance the habitat needs of birds and the needs of human activities,so as to improve the level of biodiversity and achieve the effect of harmonious coexistence between human and nature.
