Online social networking has gained increasing popularity due to the rapid development and expansion of Internet technology. The advent of it has not only transformed conventional means of accessing, sharing, and exchanging information, but has also significantly broadened the scope and reach of information distribution, utilization, and consumption. It can be said that while online media is a double-edged sword that brings convenience to the public and reduces the cost of public discussion,it also inevitably increases the pressure on the government to regulate online public opinion(later referred to as OPO).Currently, the oversight, direction, and control of OPO by local governments remains a weak link and deficiency in modernizing the national management and governance system. Moreover, from a technical standpoint, there is a need to enhance its regulatory capability and level.Based on microblog public opinion data, this paper applies modern information theory and technology to design and implement a WebGIS-based city online public opinion visualization system and tries to apply it in Xi’an,with a view to grasping the spatial and temporal distribution of OPO in a first-tier city through the collection, analysis and visual presentation of various types of public opinion data in the target city and, based on this,to test the platform’s functions from the level of technical means and help local governments to improve the monitoring, emergency response and disposal capabilities of OPO and substantially serve the construction of a safe China. The main research work of this paper is as follows:(1)Technical preparation.Firstly, the current situation of research on public opinion systems and their applications is sorted out;secondly, the study and reserve of relevant theories and technical methods required for system development, including data collection,pre-processing,public opinion text analysis and system development, are completed.(2)System development.First, system design.Through system requirement analysis, the target system requirements were clarified, and the overall system architecture, functional modules and storage structure were designed with this in mind,so as to lay down the infrastructure and implementation plan of the system with visualization as the prominent feature;secondly, system implementation. To fulfill the system’s requirements and design,WebGIS technology was utilized for visualizing the prototype system implementation. The system follows a B/S architecture and front-end and back-end separation model. The back-end utilizes a combination of Spring Boot framework,MyBatis-Plus,MySQL,and Redis technologies to handle business logic and respond to data requests, effectively managing system resources and data. The front-end,on the other hand, employs Vue.js framework and ECharts for processing page interactions and rendering opinion data visually through the AMap API.Interaction between the front-end and back-end is achieved through Axios.(3)System application. In order to verify the system and its visualization function, the front and back ends collaborated in processing public opinion data and presenting the analysis results with various charts, which not only verified the intuitive, convenient and application of the prototype system for the spatial and temporal presentation of urban public opinion, but also provided an effective platform and means for public opinion control and governance improvement.
