Geographic data is widely applied in all walks of life. And it is called the core ofgeographic information system, whose importance is self-evident. But it is difficult torealize the data sharing and visualization because the data is of a wide variety andexceedingly huge amount, which is the key difficulty of various sectors. The appearanceof WebGIS makes it possible to be solved. Taking the evaluation index system ofcounty economy of Sichuan province as an example, the thesis starts from the aspects ofthe data sharing and visualization of the economic indicators and applies the template ofWeb Mapping Application supplied by ArcGIS Server. The visualization of regionaleconomic statistical data is realized by web publication under the developmentenvironment of ASP.NET. Data display by web publication can make multiple usersvisit the data of economic indicators they need through internet at the same time,achieving the sharing of economic data. Besides, the thesis studies the inquiringfunction of grid control through calling up data from Access data base by SQL language.Users can check the economic indicators by pie chart, bar graph, grading render andother thematic display methods. These visualization methods can display the dataquickly and correctly which the users are interested in. The developed experimentsystem makes the statistical data of regional economic visually shown in front of theusers by WebGIS and thematic maps. After realized the data sharing and visualizationof social economic indicator, it offers a scientific basis for the government andcorporations to make decisions by taking advantage of these statistical informationeffectively.This thesis consists of six chapters. The main contents are as follows: the firstchapter of introduction describes the present situations of internet sharing of statisticaldata, and illustrates the significance and value of the selected topic. The research goalsand main contents of the thesis are also included; the second chapter summarizes thekey techniques and relative theoretic knowledges of the thesis, including mainly the GISthematic mapping technique of geographic data visualization, WebGIS platform software and its’ development techniques, ArcGIS Server and its’ ASP.NETdevelopment techniques; the third chapter emphasizes on the method and process ofpublishing web maps by ArcGIS Server, the principle of GIS Server and the web maptiling method; the fourth chapter elaborates on the method of constructing thegeographic database of statistical indicator based on GeoDatabse, including dataanalysis and organization, structure design of geographic data base, and as well themethod of constructing the geographic database of statistical indicator based onGeoDatabase by ArcGIS, geographical space and arcServer，attributive data loading andmethod of cartographic symbols; the fifth chapter focuses on the method andachievement of web publication of thematic maps by ASP.NET and ArcServer; thesixth chapter is the conclusion and prospects of the thesis.
