Differences Between Chinese And Western Paradigms Of Philosophy Of Technology And Their Enlightenment

According to Kuhn’s understanding,paradigm usually refers to those concepts,laws,theories and patterns that are accepted by the scientific community for a period of time.With the deepening and diversification of domestic and foreign scholars’ research on technology and philosophy of technology,the paradigm of philosophy of technology has taken shape.The western paradigm of philosophy of technology mainly includes engineering paradigm,humanistic paradigm and social criticism paradigm.A large number of scholars,such as Pefer K.Engelmeier,Dessauer,Carl Mitcham and Mumford,have formed the philosophy of technology with different contents and methods.While excavating Marx’s philosophy of technology and Chinese traditional philosophy of technology,Chinese philosophy of technology draws lessons from and absorbs western philosophy of technology,and actively constructs a paradigm of philosophy of technology with Chinese characteristics.A large number of scholars,such as Chen Changshu,Yuan Deyu,Liu Zeyuan and Wang Qian,have greatly promoted the development of Chinese philosophy of technology.The existing achievements lack the research on the differences between Chinese and Western paradigms of philosophy of technology,which leads to the lack of support and guidance of Chinese philosophy of technology in the development of science and technology in China.Based on the differences,this paper makes a comparative study of Chinese and Western paradigms of philosophy of technology,and finds that there are three differences in social and economic basis,philosophical basis and cultural values,and puts forward three possible paths for the development of Chinese paradigm of philosophy of technology,that is,the integration of Marxist view of science and technology,the integration of Chinese culture and the essence of western philosophy of technology,and the reflection of Chinese and western philosophy of technology as the basis.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part mainly explains and combs the basic connotation and development process of philosophy of technology,paradigm and paradigm of philosophy of technology,which lays the foundation for comparative study of Chinese and Western paradigms of philosophy of technology.The second part,from the perspective of social and economic foundation,explains that Chinese philosophy of technology originated from small-scale peasant economy and socialist market economy,while western philosophy of technology originated from trade economy and capitalist market economy.The third part,from the perspective of philosophical foundation,compares and studies Chinese metaphysical foundation with the relationship between "Tao" and "Technology" as the core,and the western philosophical foundation with "Logos" as the starting point.The fourth part,from the perspective of cultural values,compares and analyzes the different attitudes,different handling methods and their respective influences on the relationship between technology and nature,technology and society,and the internal elements of the technology system between the "harmonious technology view" under the Chinese cultural background and the "independent technology view" under the western cultural background.The fifth part reveals the enlightenment from the comparison of Chinese and Western paradigms of philosophy of technology,clarifies the different characteristics of Chinese and Western paradigms of philosophy of technology in the comparative study,seeks to build a paradigm of philosophy of technology with Chinese characteristics,and promotes China’s technology and philosophy of technology to the world.
