| The relationship of technology and engineering has attracted interests of scholars inChina, by the reason of publishing one book with the author of Li Bo-cong.In the book, there are conceptions on technology and on engineering, which are made by theauthor of the book depending on notions of Professor Li. He believes the core of technologyis invention, and the core of engineering is production. Conceptions on technology andengineering have got great arguments.Mainstream about conceptions on technology and engineering in academia is mentionedin this thesis, which should be noted, and got respect in the thesis. It's patent that there aredifferences between the mainstream and the opinion of Professor Li. These conceptionscontain production in technology and contain something more in engineering.In traditional philosophy, technology contains engineering, so engineering philosophywas a part of technology philosophy before it was independent. There is close relationshipbetween technology philosophy and engineering philosophy.The author of the thesis believes the action of technology contains something far morethan innovation only, for instance, production. It's inappropriate to limit the conception abouttechnology in a small domain. Appliance of technology is the core of technology conception,with parts of others around it, including invention. Production is an important part inapplication of technology. If production is considered to be the core of engineering,engineering may be a part of technology. Engineering exists in process, and should be at topof action of technology. Then, technology and engineering are unified in one conception.The target of the thesis is trying to interpret the conceptions on technology andengineering, and the relationship of technology philosophy an engineering philosophy, whichis on the basic of the conceptions. Hoping the thesis will realize the promotion of technologyphilosophy and engineering philosophy.
