On The Relationship Between Philosophy Of Technology And Philosophy Of Engineering In The Discipline History Of Vision

Along with rising of philosophy of engineering, the relation problem between philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering brings to us. For the relationship between the two, we mainly have three kinds to comprehend in philosophy field. The first is separate theory, thinking that philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering are two respectively independent subjects. The second is crossing theory, thinking although philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering are two research realms, both of them contact closely, and crossed mutually or layer after layer part. The third is coordinative theory, thinking that philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering are two academic technical terms which are almost the same, having no necessity to do a strict distinction.This text considers that there are both obvious differences and inside contact between philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering. Differences appear in four aspects: the first is the difference in research object, being the research object of philosophy of technology, technique is a kind of means, method; being the research object of philosophy of engineering, engineering is a practice process. The second is the difference in contents, respectively surrounding the technique, the engineering to launch a research. The third is the difference in study basis, the former is technique history, and the latter is engineering history. The forth is that each of philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering has some characteristic categories, and adopt, inventing, experiment's etc are the pre-eminent categories of philosophy of technology, but decision, organization, management are the pre-eminent categories of philosophy of engineering. Contact also appears mainly in four aspects: the first is the contact between the concept of technique and engineering, there is no technique which escapes from engineering fulfillment, and there is also no engineering without technique. The second is the research purposes are both basically consistent, both are served in the fulfillment activity that the mankind reform objective world. The third is the methods of study are greatly homology, and both of the methods adopt stage analysis. The forth is that they both include the same basic uniform categories, such as volition, purpose, and alienation for example.Owing to the complicated relation between philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering, we should make great effort to turn idea to harmonization, turn study to integration, and turn education to linking up in order to promote to repair with each other, improve totally, and develop cooperatively.
