Although the Government of Liberia has already addressed these issues through basic and advanced staff training on procurement,a long list of questions remains to be resolved to ensure an efficient and transparent procurement process despite the steps taken in sensitizing and training public procurement professional progress that has been made. This research will be very useful to the government in formulating policies and regulations for the green procurement process because it informed the institution’s management about how the rules and regulations affect the procurement process, which led to the implementation of consistent and systematic inspection procedures to improve what would have been delivered in the future. The study is anticipated to benefit Liberian supermarket owners by giving statistics and information that was previously unavailable to them, allowing them to devise effective methods for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of their green procurement procedures. This study is factors affecting effectiveness of green procurement in Supermarkets in Liberia. The study had four objectives to achieve: To establish the effect of top management support on green procurement in supermarkets in Liberia; To find out the effect of finance on green procurement Supermarkets in Liberia; To assess the role of supplier selection on green procurement in Supermarkets in Liberia;and to establish how supply chain management practices affect green procurement in Supermarkets in Liberia. The research design was a descriptive study.Data was collected using a questionnaire that was administered through Wechat. The issue of green procurement-stems from pollution control principles and practices.Green procurement, often known as environmental purchasing, examines the price, technology, quality, and environmental impact of a product, service,or contract.Every organization, regardless of size,is impacted by environmentally friendly procurement policies.Green procurement initiatives might be as basic as buying renewable energy or using recycled office paper or as complex as requiring vendors and contractors to meet environmental standards.Green products or services use fewer resources, are built to endure longer, and have a low environmental impact from start to finish.Additionally,"green" products and services have a lower impact on human health and may adhere to stricter safety regulations. However, most firms or supermarkets in Liberia has no established formal systems or infrastructure for collection and recycling of waste from their firms with the exception of re-threading.As such the bulk of the waste are informally collected and often illegally burnt in the open to recover steel for recycling. This emits harmful gases causing air pollution and soil contamination arising from the residues. In addition, most of the hazardous waste is not pretreated before reuse, recycling or disposal. This poses health risks to the handlers and causing damage to the environment as most of it ends up in river streams within Liberia and this may be attributed to adequate infrastructure facilities by the studied firms and this is assume have serious effect on green procurement of the studied firms.Hence, the study examined impact of green procurement in Liberia with a key focus on safe-way Supermarkets.
