Medical dressings with excellent antibacterial properties and water absorption properties are seldom studied. Some antibacterial dressings have disadvantages such as antibacterial substances harmful to the human body or unsatisfactory water absorption properties leading to wound adhesion.Wormwood has the advantages of broad-spectrum antibacterial, environmental protection, safety and non-toxicity.Combining wormwood extract with textiles can make it have natural antibacterial properties.Carboxymethyl is extremely hydrophilic, and the carboxymethylated modified material has high water absorption properties, and can also form a gel structure after absorbing liquid, which is beneficial to slow the loss of liquid and provide moisturizing conditions for wound healing. Therefore,it is of great significance to combine the wormwood extract with non-woven materials and carry out carboxymethylation modification to make it have excellent natural antibacterial properties and excellent water absorption properties. In this thesis,wormwood/viscose fiber was used as raw material, and carboxymethyl was successfully grafted through alkali treatment and etherification reaction.Nonwovens are characterized and tested for performance. The results showed that the average fiber diameter of the modified nonwoven fabric increased from 13.06 μm to 15.78 μm,and the crystallinity decreased from 55.14% to 31.47%.After modification, the absorption and liquid retention properties of the nonwoven fabric are improved, and the mechanical properties are reduced. The inhibitory rates against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli are 88.72% and 85.17%,respectively,and have good cell compatibility. The modification process was optimized by orthogonal experiment, and the best process was obtained as follows:sodium hydroxide concentration is 20%,alkalization time is 2 h,acid-base ratio is 1/4,etherification time is 2 h,and etherification temperature is 80 ℃.Under this process, the water absorption rate can reach 935%.Since the preparation of wormwood/viscose fiber is more complicated than ordinary viscose fiber, the optimized modification process is used to modify the viscose fiber spunlace nonwoven fabric. The wormwood extract is added to the modified solution to load the wormwood extract on the viscose fiber. The carboxymethylated viscose fiber spunlace nonwoven fabric loaded with wormwood extract was characterized and performance tested, and compared with the previous method. The results showed that the average fiber diameter of the modified nonwoven fabric increased from 12.79 μm to 15.67 μm,and the crystallinity decreased from58.93% to 39.83%.The modified non-woven fabric can absorb more liquid, and the water absorption rate can reach 825%.The inhibitory rates against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were 89.95% and 86.99%,respectively.Comparing the two methods, the nonwoven material prepared by the first method has better water absorption properties, and the nonwoven material prepared by the second method has better antibacterial properties. The nonwoven fabrics prepared by the two methods have good cell compatibility.Compared with commercially available medical dressings, the two non-woven fabrics prepared in this topic have both excellent water absorption, liquid retention and natural antibacterial properties.
