The construction industry has been propelled into a period of rapid growth,due to the economic expansion and the relentless urbanization in our nation,yet resource squandering,ecological contamination,and high carbon emissions have become a reality.The construction industry is the pillar industry of the national economy and the industry with the highest carbon emission.The construction industry must strive to achieve "carbon neutrality" and "emission peak" by harmonizing the connection between its growth and resources and the environment,emphasizing ecological environmental preservation to guarantee output value,and progressing towards green and low-carbon development.The study of ecological efficiency in construction industry is essential for the promotion of high-quality development,as it can quantify the level of harmony between economy and environment.This thesis aims to deeply explore the relationship between the construction industry and ecological efficiency,and extract useful information from relevant literature at home and abroad,in order to provide a strong theoretical support for the evaluation of ecological efficiency in the construction industry.A measurement index system was constructed to gauge the ecological efficiency of the Chinese construction industry,and the ultra-efficiency non-expected SBM model was employed to measure it.Subsequently,the ecological efficiency of the construction industry was evaluated from the national,three major economic zones,and provincial levels.Exploring the temporal and spatial distinctions and disparities in the ecological efficacy of the construction sector during 2010-2019.The Tobit regression model is employed to investigate the essential determinants of ecological efficiency in the construction sector,with the ecological efficiency value serving as the restricted dependent variable.Subsequently,specific proposals are proposed based on the essential influencing factors at various levels.Results demonstrate that,(1)from 2010 to 2019,the ecological efficiency of the construction industry did not reach DEA efficiency,and the entire sector exhibited a fluctuating pattern.Furthermore,the ecological efficiency of the construction industry in the three economic zones was less efficient than DEA,and the distinction is clear.The eastern coastal areas,where the provincial level’s relatively effective provinces are situated,Despite this,the ecological efficiency of the construction industry remains low in most provinces and cities.(2)A spatial evolution pattern of" Move north and east" was observed as the center of gravity of ecological efficiency in Chinese construction industry shifted from southwest to northeast.The construction industry’s ecological efficiency in the northeast direction appears to be in a steady expansion,while both the long and short axes were shortened during the research period,suggesting a spatial agglomeration phenomenon in the north-south and east-west directions.(3)The construction industry’s ecological efficiency was significantly enhanced by technological advancement,urbanization rate,and energy consumption structure,whereas industrial structure,marketization,and economic development had a deleterious effect.The central region is significantly impacted by technology innovation and energy consumption structure,while the western region is significantly impacted by technology innovation and environmental regulation intensity.(4)Beginning at the national level,we can strive to enhance ecological efficiency in Chinese construction industry by augmenting technological progress,optimizing energy consumption,altering the industrial structure of the sector,and refining and enhancing the market system.For the three economic zones need to adapt to local conditions,according to different regional factors to take corresponding measures.
