As an important traditional weaving craft in China,bamboo weaving has a long history and contains the wisdom and life experience of the creator,who transformed these intangible spiritual ideas into a tangible language of creation.From the traditional to the current post-information age,bamboo weaving has developed and evolved with the times,but the changing shape of the times has also led to the marginalisation of bamboo weaving,and the innovative development of bamboo weaving has become particularly important nowadays.With the advent of the post-information age,the traditional static material communication medium is gradually replaced by dynamic digital media forms.New fiber materials such as optical fibers have broken through the limitations of traditional fiber material language expression,injecting new visuals,new tactile sensations and new feelings into art creation and design practice,enriching the form of art language expression and extending the expression space of traditional fiber materials.The main topic of this paper is how bamboo weaving can be reborn in the postinformation era through the artistic language of light-conducting fibers,in line with the trend of the times.First of all,this thesis is based on extensive literature research,fieldwork and case studies,and the material characteristics and historical development of bamboo weaving and light-conducting fibers are sorted out and summarised.After a general study of the materials,the study explores the expression of the artistic language of the two in terms of shape,colour and texture from an artistic and aesthetic perspective,and explores the feasibility of combining the two in artworks through relevant case studies.Secondly,in terms of methodological analysis,the author synthesises the above analysis of the artistic characteristics and expressions of the two materials,combines the aesthetic cognition and emotional needs of contemporary audiences,and proposes a research and design method for the intervention of light-conducting fibers in bamboo weaving.The AHP hierarchical analysis method was used to construct a design model to quantify the relative weight of the bamboo fiber art design factors.Finally,through field research,the author explored the traditional local art language of the Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Qiandongnan,Guizhou Province,and used emotional theoretical design as a guide to create the installation ’Silent Growth’,which combines the artistic languages of bamboo weaving and fiber optics.The work incorporates the artistic language of both materials and uses installation art as a vehicle for expression,enriching the communication and interaction between the audience and the work,incorporating local cultural characteristics and conveying emotional experiences and cultural reflections.The integration and development of traditional crafts and modern art has always been a proposition for art creators to consider.Combining theoretical and practical research,the author explores the artistic language of light-conducting fiber materials in the bamboo weaving process,and emotionally empowers the experience and interaction of installation art,with a view to adding to the innovative development of bamboo weaving in the post-information era.
