Air cargo is an important strategic resource of the country. With the transformation of our country’s economy from rapid development to high-quality development, traditional air cargo companies are gradually transforming into air logistics companies that provide full-process services. The professional and intelligent development trend of air cargo has put forward higher requirements on the operating environment and efficiency, and the coordinated development. In this context, the influencing factors and characteristics of the temporal and spatial differentiation of China’s air cargo development are studied.Firstly, the multivariate correlation analysis method is used to determine the factors.Secondly, using GIS spatial analysis to identify the temporal and spatial differentiation characteristics from the overall and local perspectives. Finally, using spatial clustering analysis and spatial regression analysis to study the driving factors of the temporal and spatial differentiation characteristics.China’s air cargo industry shows a spatial pattern of high level and low level interlaced with each other, the radiation effect has gradually expanded, and the gap with the east and west cannot be narrowed.Large air cargo hubs have a strong radiation effect on small cargo hubs, but this radiation effect is gradually weakening.External factors show the characteristics of decreasing successively from coastal areas to western regions, which corresponds to the radiation effect. In terms of internal factors, some provinces in the western region have the same development characteristics as those in the coastal regions, which is also the reason for the random distribution of space. All factors of the large air cargo hub are ahead of the rest of the small hubs. The results of the spatial Dubin model show that variables such as the frequency of international will affect the development of air cargo in surrounding provinces. The spatial lag model only under the fixed time situation shows that the development of air cargo will be inhibited by neighboring provinces, and gradually evolve into a spatial agglomeration effect and a radiation effect.Based on the research results, the measures to promote the development of air cargo have been proposed from both internal and external perspectives.
