| China’s machine tool industry has made tremendous achievements after nearly 20 years development.Until around the 2008 Financial Crisis,China has become the world’s largest machine tool manufacturer,and the world’s largest machine tool importer;however,our machine tool industry is not strong,although it is big.Since 2011,China’s machine tool industry’s operating revenue and total profit have declined rapidly,and the number of loss-making enterprises has increased from 359 in 2011 to 1044 in 2017.China’s machine industry continues declining to be at the edge of loss with meager profits,facing a huge survival crisis.As a leading enterprise in machine tool industry,SYMG took advantage of its large scale to become the top of the world in 2011,bringing great influence to the international machine tool industry.SYMG has been exploring the way of innovation in recent years.Despite the achievements,it is still in a business dilemma.This paper analyzes the macro environment and the industry environment of enterprises using PEST and Porter’s Five Forces methods of strategic management.It identifies the opportunities and risks outside enterprises,and finds out the advantages and disadvantages inside,by analyzing the existing capabilities and resources within the enterprises.Four strategic combinations,such as growth strategy,defensive strategy,reversal strategy and contraction strategy,are obtained through SWOT analysis matrix.Then it gets the conclusion to implement platform strategy at enterprise strategic level,considering the enterprise mission and vision.Finally SYMG would transform from the traditional machine tool manufacturer to the platform organization to meet customer needs,by constructing flat organizational structure,innovation and cooperation platform of multi-deep coordination,and user interaction platform in segmented market.It is believed that the analysis and research in this paper will provide some reference for traditional manufacturing enterprises. |
