Research On Intelligent Home Energy Management System Based On Machine Learning

Energy is among the most utilized resources in household as it is connected to daily living and survival.Humans can hardly survive without use of energy,especially in this era of diverse technological innovation almost in all fields and sectors.However,the consumption of energy over the past decades ever since industrial revolution has sparkled issues that call for better and decent ways of both extractions,exploiting,and consumption of energy.This research will emphasize on use of current technologies to monitor and reduce wastage of energy in home applications and propose a home energy management system.The specific research contents are as follows:(1)The introductory part begin by examining the background patterns on energy consumption based on the general observation and studies by the researcher concentrating on global concerns as a result energy exploitation over the past decades.In conjunction to these global concerns,the statement of the problem is followed which described the motive behind the study and then proposed the solutions in management and control of energy.(2)Starting from the theory,related technologies such as the use of smart homes and smart devices are given,and a method for transforming ordinary families into smart hub is established.In this method,application that allow users to control and monitor smart devices are developed,while using a web server as a communication medium between the hub and the applications.Finally,establish a cloud environment for performing machine learning operations and collect data such as the power consumption of smart devices and the users’ status home/away through Wi-Fi on smartphone applications.(3)Based on the importance and application of machine learning in the monitoring and control of energy consumption data in the household,a method for connecting all energy devices in the house to a smart device namely the "smart hub"system is proposed.In this system,the purpose of monitoring and controlling household energy consumption data through electronic gadgets is achieved.(4)The design plan and implementation method of the home energy management system based on machine learning is given.At the same time,the proposed system is tested and evaluated.Discussion of the simulation results showed that the home energy management system can effectively reduce energy consumption.
