Innovation is the soul of a nation and the inexhaustible driving force for the prosperity of a country.General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward the innovation-driven development strategy,pointing out that innovation should be placed at the core.Einstein once said that imagination is more important than knowledge,which is enough to see the importance of innovation.As a link of transportation,transportation infrastructure plays a fundamental role in promoting innovative development.Compared with other modes of transportation,high-speed trains are more punctual and faster,greatly reducing travel time.Especially in the innovation highland of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration,high-speed rail can play a more important role as a link of transportation infrastructure,which can spread innovation resources and make innovation possible in a larger scope and to a greater extent.Exploring the relationship between high-speed rail and urban innovation level is conducive to the planning and construction of high-speed rail in the future,and can absorb more beneficial experience in the process of innovative city construction.Therefore,it has important practical background and significance to study the impact of high-speed rail on the innovation level of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta.At present,the domestic and foreign scholars about the high-speed impact on the level of city innovation studies mostly use patents to measure innovation level,not the integrity of the focus on innovation as well as the high speed rail on the influence of different innovation subjects,lack of pertinence,based on this the paper builds the evaluation index system of city innovation,and focus on the mechanism of high iron on the influence of different innovation main body.In terms of theoretical study,based on the theory of city innovation system,build the evaluation index system of city innovation,and explore the high-speed urban innovation level,the influence mechanism of Yangtze river delta urban agglomeration,this paper expounds factors flow and the industrial structure of high iron on the overall impact of mechanism innovation level and the influence mechanism of different main body;At the level of empirical research,this paper selected the data of 27prefecture-level and above cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration from2000 to 2020,estimated the innovation level of each city through the entropy method,and analyzed it through visualization,and empirically tested the impact of high-speed railway on the innovation level of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration by using the multi-period differential difference model.The mediating effect model is used to verify the influence mechanism of HSR on urban innovation level,knowledge innovation and technology innovation.The results show that :(1)high-speed rail has a significant promoting effect on the level of urban innovation in the Yangtze river delta urban agglomeration.From the perspective of innovation subjects,it has a significant promoting effect on knowledge innovation and technology innovation.(2)From the perspective of impact mechanism,the opening of high-speed rail promotes the flow of factors and affects the adjustment of industrial structure to improve the level of urban innovation.On the one hand,the continuous improvement of high-speed rail network has changed the spatial layout by improving accessibility,resulting in spatio-temporal compression effect that changes residents’ travel mode and promotes factor flow.Factor flow promotes knowledge innovation by transferring knowledge and technology and enhancing cultural diversity,while factor flow brings labor resources,competition,imitation effect and information disclosure to promote technological innovation.On the other hand,high-speed rail promotes the adjustment of industrial structure by promoting trade development,facilitating financing and factor flow,and promotes technological innovation through the interaction between thrust and pull through agglomeration effect and diffusion effect,which in turn forces knowledge innovation and progress through industry-university-research cooperation.(3)There is heterogeneity in the impact of HSR opening on urban innovation level.From the perspective of city size,for large and medium-sized cities,high-speed rail has a significant promotion effect on the level of urban innovation,while the effect on small cities is not obvious.From the perspective of administrative division,the impact of HSR opening on innovation level in Anhui province is not significant,but it is very significant in Jiangsu and Zhejiang province.Compared with non-coastal areas,the opening of high-speed rail has a more significant impact on the innovation level in coastal areas.On the research results,this paper puts forward the following Suggestions:(1)the government should continue to strengthen the planning and construction of high-speed rail network,balanced main and branch lines,further optimize the structure of high railway network,especially pay attention to the dynamic adjustment of the overall planning and road network structure,reasonable choose high-speed rail site,promote the Yangtze river delta urban agglomeration in the innovation level of ascension.(2)Make full use of the factor flow effect brought by high-speed rail.The governments of small and medium-sized cities,non-coastal cities and Anhui Province along the high-speed railway should actively introduce relevant policies,improve supporting preferential measures such as talent introduction and financial support,not only actively attract foreign talents and capital,but also try their best to guide and cultivate local factors,so as to realize hematopoiation and blood transfusion in low-lying areas of innovation level.(3)Take advantage of the opening of high-speed railway to realize the adjustment of industrial structure and form the advantage of industrial structure upgrading.In particular,small cities should actively integrate into the high-speed railway economic belt,adapt measures to local conditions,develop their own competitive industries,and cultivate industrial chains related to cities along the high-speed railway,so as to speed up their own innovation level and catch up.
