Why is China's high-speed railway(CHR)technology innovation so successful, and cars, aircraft and other technological innovations is not so good? What is the causes of the success of the technological innovation of CHR,how do these factors play a role, why so far the technology catching up of cars, aircraft manufacturing industry is not as successful as CHR?In this paper, through the study of CHR technology innovation path,I try to illustrate these problems. This paper reviews the emergence and development of innovation theory, introduces the related theories of the dynamic mechanism of technological innovation, the theories of the technological innovation and market structure and the theories of thedeveloping countries' catching up.On the basis of contrasting the technology innovation of high-speed railway to cars, aircraft manufacturing industry,we find the important factors affecting CHR technology innovation and the internal logic how these factors play a role, and put forward the technological innovation model of the developing nationa. This paper argues that the development of high-speed rail industry technology can be divided into three stages:technology accumulation, technology catch-up,technology beyond. The first stage decision whether countries need to develop high-speed rail technology. At this stage, market demand, technology accumulation, technological capability is the important factors. And there is a "technical barriers"-when technology accumulation get to a certain extent and the speed of CHR is expected to more than a certain threshold, the expected earnings growths along with the speed. At this point, researching and development of CHR is Cost-effective—this conclusion can be proved by building a quadratic function model, which can prove that the expected return is a U curve. The second stage is the stage of the technology catch-up.Five factors which is the market demand, technology accumulation, the domestic technology market structure and the foreign technology supplier market structure, whether there is the impact of market access, affact the technology introduction.Because the introduction of high-speed rail technology is a process of the game, the bigger of the domestic market demand and the technology accumulation, the more centralized of the domestic technology market, the more decentralized of the technology introduction of foreign technology, and the more strict market access, the earlier the introduction of technology happens. It can be proved by game theory model. In the second stage,we conclude that there is a "window period"of high-speed rail, aircraft, automobile industry technology introduction. The transaction of the technology can be reached in the window period.Because the window period of the high-speed rail is earlier and longer than the aircraft and cars, the technology introduction of CHR happens more easily than aircraft and automotive. The third stage is the technology beyond. In it we study that after the high-speed rail technology catching-up,whether the developping countries have stronger willing than foreign companies to do R&D,so as to achieve technology beyond. In this stage,we used network externality theory and establish the topology model to prove that with the increase of the city population and city nodes, the new city connected into the high-speed rail network brings more incomes,so China has stronger willing to innovating. But if we look to the world,we must take the strategy of "seizing the surrounding, expanding, jumping, blocking opponents"to lead the developping of the high-speed railway. Finally, this paper proposes 5 policy suggestions, hoping that the other high-tech industries such as automobile manufacturing, aircraft manufacturing can be as good as CHR.
