| With the advent of the era of consumption and the change of human production and life patterns, the design of night living environment has attracted more and more attention from all walks of life, the surge of human nighttime activities has promoted the rapid development of the “nighttime economy”.Commercial streets with traditional features are undoubtedly one of the important carriers to carry people’s nighttime activities and promote nighttime economy.Compared with the globalized and patterned modern commercial streets, the nightscape design of traditional commercial streets reflects the humanistic atmosphere and regional characteristics. It is these regional characteristics and traditional elements that shape the unique nighttime living environment type of such traditional commercial streets. The core problem of this typical night living environment is how to achieve “inheritance and development”,we should neither blindly pursue antique nor pay too much attention to consumption. We must seek a balance between the two routes, which should not only meet the needs of today’s economic development, but also ensure our unique humanistic atmosphere. In the practice of today’s nightscape design, designers often take the nightscape design as the follow-up link to shape the living environment, emphasize the independence and professionalism of lighting engineering in the design process, and look at the problem of shaping the light environment of the night living environment from a separated perspective. In this paper, the author rejects this kind of design thinking and tries to use the semiotic perspective, which has been popular in the west since the 20 th century, the nightscape is regarded as a systematic, complete and hierarchical symbol from the aspect of visual perception.Through the semiotics related theories and research methods to help people understand the emergence, form and the function and influence of night living environment on experiential people. In this paper, for the purpose of accurate meaning, the “nightscape” is used to analyze the various characteristics of the nightscape of commercial streets. The overall research logic of this paper can be summarized as “three sides and one line”,“Three sides” refers to the pragmatic semiotics theory that gradually develops from the three research aspects of the grammatical structure, semantic expression and pragmatic experience of the nightscape symbols.“One line” refers to the “material →form/structure → meaning → reader” of the nightscape symbols in the commercial street as the research clue and goes deeper in this way.among them,“material →form/structure” belongs to the category of combination and structure of syntax, relying on three examples of traditional commercial streets in North Anhui, the basic elements of nightscape shaping, such as prototype elements “entity” and “virtual body”,and secondary shaping elements, such as “artificial light system”,are analyzed;“Form/structure → meaning” belongs to semantic expression.Starting with the mode of meaning expression in the process of shaping the nightscape, the essential difference between traditional commercial street and modern commercial street symbols is discussed, and the key points of nightscape symbol design of traditional commercial street are clarified;“Meaning → reader” belongs to the category of pragmatic experience, the author obtained people’s psychological evaluation of the traditional commercial street night view in North Anhui by SD method, these psychological evaluations show people’s initial cognition of the meaning conveyed by nightscape symbols, combining all kinds of data obtained in the field survey and the behavior types of experiential people, the pragmatic analysis of commercial street nightscape symbols is carried out,and summarizes the problems and design experience of traditional commercial street nightscape in the process of shaping. At the end of the article, the author tries to put forward the characteristics and design methods of nightscape shaping of traditional commercial streets from the perspective of analyzing symbols through the above three levels of discussion and research. Finally, the corresponding optimization strategy is put forward for the nightscape design of the traditional commercial street in North Anhui, hoping to provide some reference for the practice of nightscape design today. |
