Study On Cultural Space Characteristics And Renewal Of Traditional Settlements In Hehuang Region

Traditional settlements are native villages with material and intangible cultural heritages and high historical,cultural,scientific,artistic,social and economic values,which are naturally formed in the long history of human society development.Traditional settlement culture space is the spatial manifestation of settlement culture connotation and the wisdom crystallization of people’s pursuit of material civilization and spiritual culture in the process of historical development.In the long-term development process of the settlement,the settlement has condensed its own unique characteristics of cultural space.Under the background of rural revitalization,the protection and development of traditional settlements have ushered in a new opportunity.How to make the cultural space of traditional settlements not only meet the growing material needs of people,but also inherit and carry forward the excellent traditional culture of settlements and realize the creative transformation and development of the cultural space of settlements is a problem that we must pay attention to and solve.Located in the Yellow River and Huangshui River valley in the east of Qinghai Province,Hehuang area is the center of economic and social development of Qinghai Province,as well as a distinctive ethnic corridor.Nurtured by the heavy culture of Hehuang,a large number of traditional settlements have been formed in the region,and 102 of them have been listed in the List of Chinese Traditional Villages.Taking the cultural space of traditional settlements in Hehuang area as the research object,this paper analyzes the connotation,generation mechanism and constituent elements of cultural space.On this basis,according to the constituent elements and cultural connotation,the cultural space of traditional settlements in Hehuang area can be divided into four categories: landscape culture space,belief culture space,folk culture space and life culture space.The landscape cultural space contains the landscape relationship and spatial pattern of the settlement space,which is the result of coordination with the natural environment and echo with the terrain and topography during the generation and development of the traditional settlement cultural space,reflecting the respect of the people of Hehuang River for the natural environment and the wisdom of space shaping.Belief culture space is the result of multi-ethnic culture development in Hehuang area,and it is the landmark of people’s spiritual world.According to different belief culture,different belief culture space representations are displayed,which affects the overall pattern of settlement space.Folk culture space The space carrier of folk culture activities,which has dynamic and temporal characteristics,interacts with the development process of settlement space.The living culture space is the space used by the residents of traditional settlements in daily life and production,showing the living culture of the villagers.Based on the analysis of different types of cultural space,it is concluded that the cultural space of traditional settlements in Hehuang area has the general characteristics of conforming to the terrain,order organization,function combination and style inheritance.It reflects that traditional settlement cultural space has the construction consciousness of harmonious coexistence with nature,the unity of order and sequence,the development wisdom of efficient use of resources and the characteristics of continuous development of regional local culture.Based on the above characteristics,in view of the problems existing in the modernization evolution,hollow decay and cultural succession of the traditional settlement cultural space in Hehuang area,three basic protection and renewal principles,including integrity and systematicness,authenticity and vitality,human nature and synergy,are determined.Four updating contents and methods were put forward,namely,extending the overall pattern of settlements,stimulating the vitality of cultural space,coordinating renovation and governance up and down,and centralized contiguity protection and renovation,in order to provide reference for the renewal of traditional settlement cultural space in Hehuang region.
