Aesthetical Cultural Study Of The Traditional Settlement In Song Tang, Fo Shan

Traditional Settlement is rich in history and culture. Due to a series of problems such as concept dislocation, management deficiencies, the protection and development of traditional settlement along with the loss of cultural and regional characters which make the research on aesthetical culture of traditional settlement one of the important and urgent issues.Songtang Village, located in Xiqiao town of Foshan is a typical representative of Khanfu clan’s traditional settlement in Lingnan region, which has a long history, distinctive geographic features, complete scene pattern and rich culture. It has profound value in history, science and art.Based on the research of "the history of the ancient village of Guangzhou" and the study of traditional village, the paper uses interdisciplinary and crossover method which is combining the architectural historian and architectural aesthetics. The paper takes Songtang Village in Foshan as object. Firstly, generalize geographical features of Songtang Village from three natural level of the Fengshui situation, landscape pattern, comb-style layout; Following, analysis the spatial characteristics of Songtang Village from the worship space, thanksgiving space, living space and other social, historical and life aspects in the logical sequence of "point", "line" and "face". Finally, elaborate the aesthetic characteristics and cultural connotations of Foshan traditional settlement from three areas of regional technical features, community spirit of the times, arts and humanities character, learning and using of the "cultural geographical character" theory of architectural aesthetics.The research objective is to reveal the deep historical, scientific and artistic value of Songtang Village from the pattern features, space and cultural characteristics. This paper points out that Songtang Village exhibit the water polymerization in settlement pattern, which is unity and concord, focusing on the integrity of the spatial characteristics, as well as the cultural connotations, the regional technical features of excavating the village heart pond, the spirit of the times mainly present values of highlight education, cultural and artistic character whose core is aesthetic taste of quiet and serene. Deep mining cultural connotation of settlements and revealing significant cultural value of settlements has important academic significance and practical reference value for the protection and development of Songtang Village.
