At present, due to the lack of attention to the actual user needs in the design of the self-service terminal, the information types and operability of the self-service terminals in various hospitals vary greatly, and the requirements for the user’s learning ability and cognitive level are also different. It resulted in an unclear division of labor between self-service and manual services, and the function of self-service equipment is idle. Therefore, the interface of the medical self-service terminal is taken as the research object, and the design practice is guided by the actual design pain points and user needs,so as to achieve the purpose of improving the usability of the interactive interface of the medical self-service terminal. On the one hand, based on the research on human visual characteristics of Ergonomics and The Cognitive Load Theory, the software and hardware interface of the medical terminal investigated on the spot are analyzed. On the other hand, questionnaires and interviews are used to catch the current medical mode and obtain user feedback.By establishing role models and experience scenes to study user characteristics. Finally, the pain points of current users using medical self-service terminals are determined, including inconsistent treatment mode, unreasonable equipment distribution, functional design is not equal to user needs, the system interface lacks availability and fault tolerance, the layout of hardware port interface is chaotic, and the interface operation paths are crossed.Based on the above research, the following work is done:(1)Under the guidance of Donald Norman’s Theory of Design Level, the user goals of instinct layer, behavior layer and reflection layer are identified according to the goal-oriented design method.(2)Based on Nielsen’s principles of usability design, the targeted design methods are determined from the instinct layer and behavior layer respectively, including visible and readable information, concise layout,fault-tolerant operation, timely feedback, high efficiency and flexibility, reasonable interaction sequence, user demand orientation and easy function learning.(3)Aiming at the problem of treatment mode, the registration mode focusing on initial diagnosis and follow-up diagnosis is put forward.Aiming at the problem of equipment distribution,it is proposed that in the case of using the same system, the interface service model of the integrated function of the equipment should be designed for different occasions to cope with the user needs in different environments.(4)The practice and display of interface design is carried out from the aspects of system interface and hardware port layout, process, path, function and visual effect. Finally, the results of user testing and usability evaluation show that the initial visit and follow-up visit mode improve the operation efficiency. The function of the design interface is easy to learn, the system efficiency, fault tolerance and information readability meet the user satisfaction, while the design of guidance requirements and operation guidance needs to be further optimized.Through design and research, the efficiency of self-service terminals in the medical system is improved from the perspective of interface design, the theoretical basis and new design mode are provided for the medical interface, and the interactive interface design of similar products is provided with a reference for user needs. However, from the feedback of users,it can be seen that in addition to the functional process, the interface design of public products should pay more attention to the guidance of users,so that these devices can better serve people’s lives.
