The development of public transport plays an important role in improving the efficiency of road use, relieving traffic congestion and reducing traffic pollution.Among the many ways to achieve priority for public transport,Dedicated Bus Lane is widely used in urban traffic management due to their simplicity and effectiveness in implementation. The Dedicated Bus Lane separates different types of vehicles by lanes to improve the speed and efficiency of bus operations.Although the Dedicated Bus Lane ensure priority for public transportation,it is also accompanied by problems such as idle road resources, underutilization of public transportation capacity, and even increased traffic congestion. The intermittent bus lane model opens bus lanes to general traffic, compensating for the disadvantages of dedicated bus lanes. With the upgrading of wireless communication services and autonomous driving technology, the subtilized control of intermittent bus lane can be further investigated. This paper proposes a strategy of controlling bus intermittent lanes by moving blocking,a strategy for flexible use of bus lanes based on bus operation characteristics. In the present thesis, the moving-blocking theory in high-speed railway scheduling is introduced into road traffic by setting block to the downstream of buses while keep other sections of the bus lane available to other vehicles. In this way, intermittent control for the bus lane can be achieved. Two model variants of this strategy have also been derived by varying the block interval,i.e.,Dedicatied Bus Lane Model(DBL)and Radical Intermittent Bus Lane Model(RIBL),to describe different bus lane control strategies. Then, simulation experiments based on the cellular-automata model are carried out to numerically analyse the characteristics of the lane changing behaviour, speed and flow rate of the vehicles in the model, and to summarise the traffic flow performance and applicable conditions of two strategies and three models in total, the intermittent bus strategy(RIBL and IBLMB models)and the fixed bus strategy(DBL model).Through numerical computer simulations,it is found that, the intermittent bus strategy has sufficient advantages in urban traffic flow, and thus can significantly increase the speed and flow rate of private cars and other operational parameters. The strategy performs well in many aspects such as enhancing the stability of traffic flow and increasing the distance between workshops. In the 3-lane environment, the intermittent bus strategy can increase the maximum amount of private traffic on the road by 43% than DBL,and road resources are fully utilized. In low-density areas, the intermittent strategy generates less traffic energy consumption, and in medium-density areas, the fixed strategy generates less traffic energy consumption. The DBL model is suitable for low-density traffic conditions when traffic density is less than 50veh/km/lane;the RIBL model is effective when the traffic density is more than 50veh/km/lane and bus departure interval is less than 300s;the IBLMB model is effective when the traffic density is more than 50veh/km/lane and bus departure interval is more than 300 s.
