With the promotion of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt and the construction of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park, the systematic protection and utilization of cultural heritages along the Grand Canal have become a key task for the provinces and cities along the canal. To fulfill this task,it is essential to conduct a comprehensive study of the composition and connotation of these cultural heritages. This thesis introduces the economic concept of "resource endowment" into the protection and utilization of architectural heritages, constructs a resource endowment evaluation model for the architectural heritages along the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province, and uses quantitative methods to determine the resource endowment of the involved architectural heritages. This thesis aims to provide new insights for the protection and utilization of architectural heritages. This thesis takes the section of the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province as the research object, which is underdeveloped in current research.Specifically, this thesis analyzes the resource endowment of the architectural heritages along the section of the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province from the perspective of resource endowment. The thesis mainly consists of three parts:(1)the first part examines historical and cultural backgrounds and the overall situation of the section of the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province through a literature review.A survey is conducted to identify the composition and spatial distribution characteristics of the canal’s architectural heritages that are within the research scope and objectively describe the external spatial environment of these architectural heritages.Based on the relevant heritage resource classification standards, the architectural heritages that are along the section of the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province are divided into three categories: core architectural heritage resources along the canal, subsidiary architectural heritage resources along the canal, and derivative architectural heritage resources along the canal.(2)the second part identifies the resource endowment elements of architectural heritages along the section of the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province and preliminarily constructs an evaluation system for the resource endowment of these architectural heritages. The resource endowment status of each architectural heritage is comprehensively understood through an expert scoring method.(3)the third part introduces the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)to determine the relative importance of each resource endowment element, based on the comprehensive understanding of the architectural heritages along the section of the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province. The evaluation factors with higher weightings are selected as the dominant resource endowment of architectural heritages.Ultimately, the degree of pros and cons of each architectural heritage in terms of intrinsic endowment and external development conditions are identified.Protection strategies and flexible development modes for different endowment types of architectural heritages are proposed. This thesis aims to expand the research perspective of architectural heritages along the section of the Grand Canal in the Hebei Province. It identifies the intrinsic endowment and external environment characteristics of the canal’s architectural heritages from the perspective of resource endowment. This makes the excellent resource endowment within the research area becomes the internal driving force for the development of architectural heritages and the integration of architectural heritage with local cultural and economic development. This thesis is expected to provide insights for further improving the theoretical research on the protection of architectural heritages along the Grand Canal.
