The gradually improving power market in China has pushed Chinese power companies to continue to improve their management methods amidst the urgent needs,while various new energy sources,such as wind power and hydrogen energy,are gradually being developed because of the country’s strong advocacy of low carbon and environmental protection,bringing impacts to the traditional thermal power generation in the past.The challenges and opportunities in the thermal power industry coexist,and the urgent problem for thermal power companies at this stage is how to maintain their dominant position in this highly competitive market environment.Cost plays an important role in business management activities,which is the main factor affecting the profitability of companies.Therefore,in order to obtain profits,companies should strengthen cost control.Fuel cost is the main cost of thermal power companies.Effective control of fuel cost is the most effective way to improve the efficiency of power thermal power companies.Therefore,it is more important for managers of coal-fired power generation companies to learn the theory and methods of cost control and to establish a more reasonable plan to control costs so as to help the company achieve maximum profitability.On the basis of sorting out the relevant literature and theories of fuel cost control,this paper firstly defines the relevant concepts of cost control,analyzes cost control from the perspective of value chain,and clarifies the cost and influencing factors of thermal power companies.Thereafter,this paper analyzes the management organization,production process and cost structure of Changsha Power Station Co.,Ltd.of Hunan CHD,and its current situation of fuel cost with respect to four aspects of coal procurement,entering the factory,entering the furnace,and inventory.Basing on the analysis,there are problems such as poor ability to respond to market risks,uneven coal blending,and imperfect fuel inventory management.The reasons are analyzed from the aspects of procurement management,unit equipment,and information management.Finally,the improvement measures to control the fuel cost are put forward in four aspects: strengthening the ability to resist coal market risks,optimizing the coal blending mode,applying the information management system and implementing the technical reforms of the unit.The research of this paper is based on the financial data of Changsha Power Station Co.,Ltd.of Hunan CHD,therefore,the relevant conclusions have certain guidance and reference significance addition to this,an in-depth analysis of our power plant costs is launched control also has certain theoretical significance.
