The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has posed a serious threat to public health and has had an unprecedented impact on the development of healthy cities. As an important component of healthy cities, urban parks and green spaces should play a more significant role in improving residents’ health. In the post-pandemic era, people are paying more attention to personal health, and there is a significant increase in the demand for park and green space-based wellness activities.Consequently, governments at various levels have issued policies and documents to encourage the construction and development of urban wellness landscapes, aiming to enhance the physical and mental well-being of the residents. However, the current park and green space designs are often single-functioned and fail to meet the diverse wellness needs of the post-pandemic era. Therefore, the focus of this study is to explore how to design wellness landscapes in parks and green spaces to meet the wellness needs of the population in the post-pandemic era.Firstly, this study reviews the current research status and relevant theories on park and green space wellness landscapes both domestically and internationally. It is found that domestic wellness landscape designs often focus on integrating traditional Chinese medicine culture and classical gardens, with limited exploration from the perspective of post-pandemic wellness landscapes.Based on this, this study innovatively conducts surveys on the mental and physical conditions of people in the post-pandemic era and investigates the wellness needs of different health levels and age groups.By integrating design strategies from domestic and international park and green space wellness landscape cases, this study summarizes and proposes design principles and methods for park and green space wellness landscapes in the post-pandemic era, considering physiological, psychological, and social dimensions of wellness.Secondly, this study conducts on-site surveys on a riverside park to investigate its location, natural resources, target population, and current site conditions.By utilizing statistical analysis software,SPSS,the collected data is organized and analyzed to understand the wellness needs of different population groups surrounding the riverside park.Guided by the wellness landscape design concept, this study presents design concepts and strategies for the post-pandemic era riverside park in terms of design objectives, positioning, and master planning. Finally, this study applies a design practice approach to carry out wellness landscape design for the Fengyang Riverside Park.Based on the project overview, the core concept of "human-oriented and ecological wellness" is proposed, aiming to create a landscape space that promotes physical, psychological, and social wellness. The park adopts a landscape spatial planning approach of "one ring, three zones, and multiple points," incorporating sensory plants arrangement, wellness activity programs, and epidemic prevention space design. The goal is to develop the riverside park into a multifunctional and all-age wellness park. This design practice represents a new exploration in wellness landscape design for Fengyang Park, hoping to broaden the perspectives on park and green space wellness landscape design in the post-pandemic era.It aims to stimulate scholars’ attention to wellness landscape construction, fully leveraging the professional advantages of landscape architecture, and providing support for the overall health development of the population in the post-pandemic era.
