Research On The Renewal Strategy Of Urban Commemorative Square Based On The Spirit Of Place

Memorial square plays an important role in urban life.It is the epitome of urban culture,the embodiment of urban spirit and the place of leisure and entertainment for citizens.As a place that embodies the spiritual culture in the city,the memorial square shoulders the responsibility of satisfying the public ’s ideal appeal and showing humanistic care.At present,the construction of urban commemorative squares is relatively early,and the construction concept is constrained by the solidified thinking of scale,traffic organization,function and axis.The square scale design is generally large,the traffic organization is relatively complex,and only the atmosphere of "commemoration " is emphasized.The construction ignores the characteristics of the place,resulting in insufficient attraction of the place space and a certain gap with the needs of real urban life.With the development of economy and the improvement of the quality of life of urban residents,people begin to pursue higher spiritual satisfaction,which puts forward new requirements for the characteristics,vitality creation and function improvement of urban space.Therefore,in the process of renewal design of memorial square,how to create a distinctive,friendly and attractive square space is the core issue to be considered.The spirit of place is the memory and emotion of the place created by the communication between people and the environment.The creation of place spirit has irreplaceable significance for excavating the historical context of the place and enhancing the sense of identity and belonging.Therefore,this paper takes the spirit of place as the core guiding theory to explore the renewal design strategy of urban memorial square.First of all,sort out domestic and foreign literature and practical cases,analyze and learn from the expression techniques and design elements of place spirit in urban public space design;summarize the concept and elements of commemorative square;this paper analyzes the important characteristics of place spirit and its generating conditions,summarizes the place spirit of memorial space in the renewal process of memorial square into three levels : ’ material environment ’,’ situation ’ and ’ vitality ’,and analyzes its influencing factors.The specific contents of the three levels are as follows : ’ material environment ’ is to analyze the form,scale,interface,axis,path,height difference,structure,texture and greening of the square space from the perspective of the spatial composition of the memorial square;from the perspective of the generation and translation of spatial characteristics,the ’ situation ’ analyzes the natural environment,regional humanities,history and culture of the square;the ’ vitality’ is the purpose of the renewal of the commemorative square,and the influence of the functional layout of the square and the behavior of the users on the spirit of the commemorative square is analyzed.Secondly,through the analysis of the above influencing factors,three strategies are proposed,including the organizational strategy of the physical environment,the construction strategy of the context-aware place experience,and the construction strategy inspired by the vitality of space use.Finally,taking Nanchang Bayi Square as the practical research object,according to the principles of coordination,accessibility,characteristic,regionality and inclusiveness of memorial square space,this paper puts forward the renewal design strategy of Bayi Square from five angles of functional composite,traffic connection,characteristic landscape,humanistic history and spatial vitality,so as to create a memorial square with convenient and safe traffic,comfortable spatial experience,unique landscape,strong cultural atmosphere and full spatial vitality.
