| Design information acquisition is an important part of design activities and provides the foundation support for conceptual design solutions.Designers show differences in their thinking patterns when processing and analyzing information due to differences in their knowledge backgrounds.The high-quality design strategy emphasizes the designer’s self-awareness.Selecting suitable design methods,tools and inspirational stimuli according to their own thinking patterns is a part of stimulating design capabilities.The purpose of this paper is to explore the process of designers’ processing of endogenous information,analyze the differences in thinking patterns reflected in the memory retrieval process,and provide targeted design stimulus materials to improve designers’ abilities.The study first dismantled the memory retrieval content to derive two main characteristics of precedent type and distance.Subsequently,32 designers participated in the experiment.By analyzing the precedent characteristics of experimental data,eight thinking patterns of the designers were generalized.In design motivation experiment,the researchers provided designers with stimulus materials of similar and opposite characteristics to their thinking patterns and observed their effects on the number,originality,completeness,and detail of design solutions.The results of the experiment showed that providing stimuli targeting different thinking patterns was effective in motivating design output and thus improving design quality.Based on the experimental results of thinking patterns and design stimulus experiments,study summarizes a design stimulus method that can match multiple thinking patterns and constructs a framework for a tool system to support innovative product design.The tool can analyze the thinking patterns of designers and provide designers with matching stimulus pictures based on the characteristics,which can guide designers to produce design solutions more efficiently.Based on the research results,designers can use the corresponding design stimulus tool to understand their own thinking patterns more fully,and enhance their self-awareness to obtain matching stimulus materials to improve design quality.In addition,this study provides a reference for building a systematic approach to innovation,thus helping to promote the development and innovation of design education and industry. |
