The Construction Of Ritual

With the in-depth implementation of ecological and land-saving burial in the development of funeral undertakings in Jiangsu Province,the proportion of columbaria in funeral facilities has increased significantly,and the acceptance of the public has also been increasing.However,the existing columbarium design generally emphasizes its function of high-density interment,the ritual space is severely compressed,and its unique spiritual function is gradually diminished.Therefore,this paper seeks specific strategies for the ritual construction of a columbarium from multiple scales to realize a modern translation of the spiritual function of traditional burial space.This study is established in the special three-dimensional land-saving columbarium,based on the spatial information of the columbarium in the Jiangsu region measured and researched,the theoretical construction,and spatial creation around rituals.Firstly,the study explores the origin and development of the columbarium and funeral rituals and clarifies the importance of ritual construction in shaping the columbarium.Secondly,based on the summary of the background of the development of the funeral business and the construction of the columbarium in Jiangsu,several columbaria in eight cemeteries with different development of columbaria and different types of funeral facilities were selected for the actual measurement.Then,based on the mapping data and image combing,I analyzed and researched the current situation of the columbarium in Jiangsu based on three scales: city,cemetery,and columbarium,and summarized the existing specific problems based on "ritual behavior".Finally,the overall design strategy of " sharing and isolation of boundaries","zigzag and guidance of sequence" and "splitting and implanting of volume" was proposed,and the detailed plan is proposed in the design of the columbarium in the northern plot of Yangzhou Cemetery.Columbaria is an effective measure to enhance the utilization of land stock in cemeteries and the last place of death and mourning.This study explores theoretical and practical exploration based on example empirical measurements.It explores how to introduce ritual into the design of the columbarium,trying to provide some new perspectives on the transformation of the modern cemetery paradigm,which may have a positive impact on the enhancement of the spatial experience of funeral facilities in the Jiangsu region at present.
