| The ancient city of Zhaoqing has a rare and still intact Song Dynasty wall, which is of great historical value and has been protected and utilized for decades, but the surrounding historic districts, which have been developed together with it,have not been well protected and are in a worrying state today: not only are they not connected to the rich history and culture of the Song Dynasty wall, but also their living environment is deteriorating. As a flesh and blood link to the cultural heritage sites, the historic district has the role of preserving the regional identity and providing economic functions to support the heritage conservation,so seeking the conservation and development of the historic district in the ancient city is also a key topic for the holistic conservation and utilization of the Song Dynasty city walls nowadays.Based on the above background, this thesis takes one part of the historic district of Zhaoqing ancient city as a carrier to study the basic theories of historic district conservation and utilization as well as the related design practice methods,so as to provide some reference for the design practice of Zhaoqing ancient city and even other historic districts in the future. This thesis firstly starts from the famous programmatic documents related to the conservation of historic districts, analyzes the development status of world cultural heritage conservation, and constructs a system of key elements for the design of conservation and utilization of historic districts in conjunction with the domestic heritage conservation practice, which sets the tone for the design practice research of the thesis. Then, this thesis combines the historical evolution and current dilemmas of the ancient city of Zhaoqing with the background of the selected historic district spatial information for a typological analysis to build an overall understanding of the current situation and locate each design demand.Due to the diversity and complexity of the design needs of the historic district, and reflecting on the many cases of historic district renewal in the past, the final results have deviated from the original intention,so this thesis attempts to introduce C-K theory to achieve a balance of multiple design needs.Through the C-K theory design operation, the concept of historic district preservation and reuse and the demand of design practice in the selected area are analyzed and demonstrated, and the overall design goal is derived.--The thesis is a study of the complete design system of "basic theory-analysis of the current situation-establishment of objectives-practical design".Finally, this thesis analyzes and summarizes the above design results and design methods, discusses the limitations of the research, and explores the design practice ideas for the conservation and utilization of historic districts. |
