In 2020,the first round of renovation in the 14 th Five Year Plan for the Wuxi Farmers’ Market was launched.With the launch of the construction of "Beautiful Wuxi" and the development of "+Tourism" in Wuxi,the interior design of the Wuxi Farmers’ Market increased control over the indoor style while paying attention to the improvement of spatial functions and facilities,promoting the improvement and development of the indoor space of the Wuxi Farmers’ Market.However,under the pressure of online vegetable shopping platforms and fresh food stores,the development space of the farmers’ market has been impacted.As a public consumption space,it has important value in promoting social interaction and inheriting historical and cultural heritage.Therefore,conducting research on the indoor space of the farmers’ market is of great significance.The paper takes the indoor space of newly built and renovated farmers’ markets in Wuxi City since 2020 as the research object.Through on-site research and data collection,it sorts out the spatial function,spatial organization,streamline organization,indoor interface,spatial embeddings,and physical environment characteristics of Wuxi farmers’ markets since 2020.It summarizes the issues of lack of public space and regional style in indoor design of Wuxi farmers’ markets since 2020.The paper analyzes the social and regional aspects of the indoor space of the farmers’ market.In terms of promoting indoor socializing in farmers’ markets,combined with the theory of "the third place",this paper analyzes the entrance space,connecting space,and hall space of Wuxi farmers’ markets,summarizes the problems of insufficient openness of entrances and exits,insufficient guidance of connecting space,and insufficient staying ability of hall space in Wuxi farmers’ markets.Based on the principles of improving the public,aging,and staying ability of the space,this paper summarizes the creation of a social space interface A design method that promotes the indoor socializing of farmers’ markets by improving the functions of composite spaces,shaping experiential traffic flow lines,and creating a participatory environmental atmosphere.In terms of strengthening the research on the indoor regionality of farmers’ markets in Wuxi,combined with theories such as place spirit and critical regionalism,this paper analyzes the current application status of traditional spatial elements,decorative elements,material elements,and color elements in the indoor design of farmers’ markets in Wuxi.It is found that there are problems in the current indoor space of farmers’ markets in Wuxi,such as grafting of spatial elements,planarization of decorative elements,simplification of material elements,and symbolization of color elements,By analyzing the regional design elements of Wuxi City,design methods such as feature freehand brushwork,regional color application,modern material replacement,traditional symbol decoration,sensory experience enhancement,and cultural sharing are summarized to strengthen the regional characteristics of the indoor space of the farmers’ market.At the end of the article,the scientific and feasible design methods for promoting social and strengthening regional design are tested through the renovation and improvement of the Shawenjing Market in Wuxi.Based on the spatial and user characteristics of the Shawenjing Market,specific practical methods are proposed to continue the spatial pattern,open architectural interfaces,expand leisure spaces,and translate cultural symbols,in order to enhance the public nature of the market space,Promote the development of community residents’ communication activities and the inheritance of regional culture.Through the above research,the article can supplement the relevant research on the social and regional aspects of interior design in Wuxi Farmers’ Market in academic theory,and provide theoretical basis and design reference for the interior design practice of Farmers’ Market in design practice.
