Research On The Reshaping Of Urban Public Space From The Perspective Of Female Subjectivity Under The Guidance Of Spatial Power

Currently,humanism has become the core ideology in urban planning,and feminist research is shifting its focus from Western middle-class women to women worldwide.With the construction of female-friendly cities in recent years,the development of diverse cities,and people’s increasing desire for beautiful spaces and lifestyles,research and reconstruction of urban public spaces from a female perspective have become increasingly important topics of study.This article explores the urban public spaces and strategies for reshaping them from the perspective of women’s subjectivity,guided by spatial power theory.The main areas of research include:(1)Theoretical foundation and research overview: After analyzing and constructing relevant concepts,the research reviews the current state of urban public space studies.By studying the historical evolution of women’s spaces and the characteristics of urban public spaces,it reveals the challenges faced by women in the development of urban public spaces under spatial power.It proposes reshaping the subjectivity of women in urban public spaces by addressing both internal needs of women and the external spatial environment that influences women’s cognition.(2)Secondly,analyze the manifestation of female subjectivity in urban public spaces.Through research,identify the characteristics of gender-based public space use.Then conduct surveys on the needs and perception of environmental power among women,combining spatial power theory with structural equation modeling to select elements in urban public spaces that reflect female subjectivity.Through research and analysis of three dimensions: spatial understanding,spatial visibility,and spatial flow,propose methods such as axis analysis using spatial syntax,viewshed analysis using Isovist,and field analysis to measure elements in urban public spaces that reflect female subjectivity.Furthermore,propose design approaches to reshape the understanding,visibility,and flow of urban public spaces.(3)Then,select a specific public space in a city as a sample for empirical research.Utilize the elements of urban public spaces that reflect women’s subjectivity identified in previous sections to analyze the issues related to women’s subjectivity in the sample space.For each issue,propose corresponding spatial optimization strategies.(4)Finally,based on the analysis of women’s spatial needs,the influence and characteristics of spatial power,as well as the design approaches and empirical analysis results of urban public spaces discussed earlier,we will present strategies for reconstructing spatial power and reflecting female subjectivity in urban public spaces from three aspects: comprehensible public spaces,visible public spaces,and mobile public spaces.The research findings indicate that the analysis of women’s subjectivity in urban public spaces and the strategies for spatial reshaping contribute to addressing the challenges faced by women in urban public spaces.This research provides valuable insights and practical significance in terms of promoting women’s rights and improving the quality of life for women in contemporary China.Additionally,it is hoped that this research can offer meaningful references and insights for the development of public spaces for other social groups,aiming to construct a more equitable and harmonious social environment.
