Spilomelinae,a subfamily of Crambidae,Pyraloidea,Lepidoptera. The subfamily not only includes a variety of important agricultural and forestry economic pests, but also an ideal group for studying biodiversity. At present,it includes 4,097 species in 338 genera worldwide. In China,it has been reported 476 species in 101 genera.Jiangxi is located in the subtropical monsoon climate zone, with numerous mountains and hills, and the main vegetation type is the evergreen broad-leaved forest with high biodiversity of snouts moth. However, prior to this study, the systematic taxonomic study on Spilomelinae in Jiangxi was rarely conducted.Accurate identification of species is the key to pest monitoring and management, biodiversity research, etc. The external morphological characteristics of adults and the technology of genital anatomy are employed to conduct systematic taxonomic study on Spilomelinae from Jiangxi.Furthermore, based on the known localities in Jiangxi and nineteen environmental variables,I analyze the suitable distribution area and niches of the subfamily using MaxEnt.The results are as follow:1.In the present study,128 species in 71 genera are reported from Jiangxi, the literature citation of each taxonomic unit, the geographical distribution of each species, the diagnostic characteristics and host plants of most species are provided.2.One newly recorded genus for China: Tetracona Meyrick,1884.The species of Tetracona Meyrick,1884 are similar to the members of Agrotera Schrank,1802 in their external characters. However, they can be easily distinguished from the latter by using the male genitalia: The uncus of Tetracona is lobe-shaped,laterally covered with dense setae;the valvae are basally equipped with a bundle bristles near the middle, and are elliptical with bluntly rounded apices. In Agrotera, the uncus is short to elongate and conical, set with few setae;the valvae have a large,hook-like process near the base, and are elliptical with narrow and pointed apices.3.A new species Tetracona multispina Jie & Li,sp.nov.is described. This new species can be distinguished from its congeners by the unique characters in hindwing and male genitalia: its antemedial line connects with the postmedial line near dorsum and the phallus with a cluster of spine-like cornute.4.Six species are reported form China for the first time: Dysallacta negatalis(Walker,1859),Herpetogramma mutualis(Zeller,1852),Leucinodes africensis Mally et al.,2015,Leucinodes pseudorbonalis Mally et al.,2015,Leucinodes rimavallis Mally et al.,2015,Massepha ohbai Yoshiyasu,1990,as well as 24 newly recorded species for Jiangxi Province.5.The analyzing results of suitable areas and niches show that Jiangxi,Hunan,Zhejiang, southern Hubei, southern Anhui, southern Guangxi and northern Fujian are the most suitable areas for Spilomelinae species from Jiangxi.Bio11(mean temperature of the coldest quarter),Bio14(precipitation of the driest period)and Bio18(precipitation of the driest quarter)are the main variables affecting the geographic distribution patterns. The systematic taxonomic study on Spilomelinae from Jiangxi has been accomplished in this context. The species diversity of Spilomelinae from Jiangxi is revealed and its suitable distribution areas and niches are analyzed. The results provided scientific data for accurate identifications and biodiversity studies for this subfamily.
