Taxonomic Studies On Smut In The Gansu Province

This thesis is mainly focused on the morphologic taxonomy of the smut fungi collected from Gansu Province. Some of the specimens were collected from Lintaio, Linxia, Xiahe, Gannan, Tianzhu, Pinliang and Lanzhou by the auther. The others are those that have been preserved in Gansu Agricultural University plant pathology laboratory .According to the latest taxonomic system of smut fungi, Forty-five smuts on the different host plants to which belong Gramineae, Cyperaceae, Leguminosae, convolvu -liceae and Polygonaceae etc.were identified.Among these species, Anthracoidea .lianhuashanenis sp.Nov,Thecaphora oxytropis S.R Wang sp. nov. and Urocystis melioae S.R.Wang. are new species. Anthracoidea foetidae, Sporisorium montannie -nsis, Thecaphora affinis, Urocystis irregularis and Urocystis psendoanemones are new records to China. And Ustiligo minima Arthur,Ustilago spermophora Berkeley & Curtis ex de Toni,Ustilogo trichophora (Link) K?rnicke,Urocystis agrostidis (Lavrov)Zundel,Urocystis Bromi(Lavrov)Zundel and Urocystis hierochloae (Muras -hk.) Vanky are first reported in Gansu province. Descriptions, hosts and distributions of these species are given. Meanwhile, micrograph and scanning electron hotomicrog -raph of every specise are appended. Scientific names and Chinese names of smuts are indexed. All the specimens are deposited in Gansu Agricultural University plant pathology laboratory (GAU).
