High quality forage plays a crucial role in the development of animal husbandry,but Chinese forage supply and demand are insufficient and China still requires large amounts of imports.Therefore,exploring a method to increase forage yield and promote seed production has become the key to solving this problem.Growth regulators are a class of artificially synthesized compounds with plant hormone like functions that can promote plant growth and development,improve quality,and increase yield.Vicia L.plants are often used for excellent forage cultivation due to their high yield,rich nutrition,and strong ecological adaptability.In view of this,this study focuses on the growth and seed production of V.sativa L.and V.unijuga in the Vicia L,to analyze the effects of five growth regulators with different concentration gradients(gibberellin GA,naphthylacetic acid NAA,sodium nitrite CSN,triacontanol TA,and brassinolide BR)on the growth and development of these two plants,to select the best plant growth regulator scheme,and preliminarily to explore the efficacy of the five plant growth regulators.The main results are as follows:1.In terms of agronomic traits,at appropriate concentrations,all five growth regulators can promote the growth of natural plant height,absolute plant height,stem diameter,single leaf area,and dry grass yield of V.sativa L.and V.unijuga.GA is the best growth regulator for increasing plant height.BR is the best growth regulator for promoting leaf development.CSN is the best growth regulator for increasing stem thickness.TA is the best growth regulator for increasing hay yield per mu.The optimal combination of various growth regulators and concentrations was 60 ppm GA,30 ppm NAA,6 ppm CSN,0.6 ppm TA,and 0.06 ppm BR,all of those significantly improved the agronomic traits related indicators of plants(P<0.05).From a comprehensive perspective,60 ppm GA is the best solution.2.In terms of nutritional indicators,the five growth regulators are not only can promote the accumulation of Ca,Mg,K,P,S elements,and crude ash content in plants,but also promote the synthesis of fat and protein and the hydrolysis of starch.The optimal combination of each growth regulator and concentration is 60 ppm GA,45 ppm NAA,6 ppm CSN,0.6 ppm TA,and 0.06 ppm BR,respectively,which have a significant effect on the accumulation of minerals and nutrients(P<0.05).0.6 ppm TA is the best solution to promote the accumulation of Mg,K,P,and crude ash,45 ppm NAA is the best solution to promote protein synthesis,and 60 ppm GA is the best solution to increase Ca content.From a comprehensive perspective,0.6 ppm TA is the optimal solution.3.In terms of seed yield,the five growth regulators can significantly increase the number of pods per plant(P<0.05)and seed yield per mu(P<0.05)at appropriate concentrations,but have no significant impact on the thousand seed weight(P>0.05).Under GA treatment,the total increment of pods per plant of Vicia sativa was the highest,at 99.32%,respectively;Under BR treatment,the total increase in thousand seed weight of V.sativa L.seeds was the highest,at 20.10%.The total increment of thousand seed weight and seed yield per mu of the V.unijuga plant treated with BR was the highest,with 36.86% and 85.77%,respectively;The total increase in the number of pods per plant by NAA was the highest,at 71.83%.From the perspective of improving seed yield,0.06 ppm BR is the best,followed by 60 ppm GA.4.In terms of seed germination,the effect of growth regulators on the germination rate and germination potential of Vicia L.seeds was not significant(P>0.05).Due to the application of growth regulators during the flowering period of the plant,as the plant grows and develops,the growth regulators are fully absorbed without directly affecting the seeds.5.In terms of pod dehiscence traits,the effects of the five growth regulators on the pod dehiscence ability and pod dehiscence rate of Vicia L.plants were not significant(P>0.05).In summary,GA and BR have the most significant effects(P<0.05)in promoting the growth and development of forage at appropriate concentrations,while TA and NAA have the most significant effects(P<0.05)in improving the accumulation of forage nutrients.From the perspective of promoting plant growth and seed production,GA has the best effect,with 60 ppm GA being the optimal solution.
