The Influence Of Labor Structure Change On Cultivated Land Abandonment

In the " Opinions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on Doing a Good Job in Promoting the Key Work of Rural Revitalization in2023 " issued on January 2,2023,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council clearly pointed out that it is necessary to explore the establishment of a control mechanism for the use of cultivated land,clarify the priority order of utilization,strengthen dynamic monitoring,carry out pilot projects in an orderly manner,and increase the use of abandoned cultivated land.The existing research shows that there are many factors affecting the abandonment of cultivated land,among which labor force is the most active factor affecting the abandonment of cultivated land,and the change of labor force structure will also cause the change of cultivated land abandonment.Tanghe County of Nanyang City is located in the southwest of Henan Province.The plains and mountains in this area are interlaced,the phenomenon of labor separation is serious,the structure of rural labor force changes,and the abandonment of cultivated land in the region occurs from time to time.In-depth understanding of the impact of labor structure on the re-cultivation of abandoned land in Tanghe County,and drawing on the experience of land abandonment management,can not only promote the effective solution of the problem of cultivated land abandonment in Tanghe County,but also have important reference value for solving the problem of cultivated land abandonment in other similar areas of China.Therefore,this paper intends to take Tanghe County of Nanyang City as a case area to study the impact of labor structure change on cultivated land abandonment.This paper analyzes the influence of labor structure change on cultivated land abandonment in Tanghe County by establishing binary Logit model and mediating effect model.The following conclusions are drawn :First,the aging of the labor age structure has a significant positive effect on the abandonment of cultivated land,that is,the more the aging population of the peasant household,the greater the possibility of the abandonment of cultivated land.Second,the feminization of labor force gender structure has no direct effect on the abandonment of cultivated land.However,the feminization of labor force gender structure has a reverse effect on the abandonment of cultivated land by affecting the abandonment behavior of the same group.Thirdly,the defect of labor quality structure has a significant positive effect on farmland abandonment,that is,the lower the labor quality of the family,the greater the possibility of farmland abandonment.Fourth,the concurrent occupation structure of labor force has neither direct effect nor mediating effect on the abandonment of cultivated land.Finally,on the basis of combing the above conclusions,the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward : 1.Strengthen the support for the elderly labor force and improve the labor ability of the elderly labor force;2.Increase the attractiveness of the hometown to the labor force and promote the rationalization of the gender structure of the labor force in Tanghe County;3.Increase the importance of the quality structure of the labor force to make up for the quality defects of the labor force;4.Improve the land transfer system to protect the orderly transfer of land;5.Increase infrastructure investment to ensure land vitality.
