The 20th Party Congress reaffirmed its commitment to “prioritizing the development of agriculture and rural areas” and for the first time,explicitly proposed“accelerating the construction of a strong agricultural nation”.The development of modern agriculture has placed higher demands on the quantity and quality of talents.As the foundation of vocational education,secondary vocational education has the important mission of cultivating skilled professionals.Therefore,it should continuously optimize the methods and approaches of talent cultivation to effectively supply talents for China’s agricultural development and rural revitalization.The course “Horticultural Facilities” is a fundamental professional course offered to students studying secondary vocational agriculture production technology.The case teaching method,which emphasizes skill development,is highly recognized and welcomed by educators and students.Thus,the core research question is: How can the case teaching method be applied to the “Horticultural Facilities” course in secondary vocational education to achieve better teaching results?In this study,we investigated and interviewed students and teachers from Nanjing X Vocational School who specialize in facility agriculture production technology.Our aim was to understand the current situation regarding students’ learning and teaching of the “Horticultural Facilities” course.Through our research,we found that the course of“Horticulture Facilities”in secondary vocational education has the problems of the lack of vocational education characteristics,the low level of students’ enthusiasm and initiative in learning.To improve the current teaching situation,we conducted an analysis of curriculum standards,teaching materials,students’ training programs,and the characteristics of secondary vocational school students.Based on this analysis,we explored the fundamental aspects of applying the case teaching method to the “Horticultural Facilities” course in secondary schools.We designed the case teaching approach to encompass three key areas: case preparation before class,the classroom teaching process,and post-class teaching evaluation and feedback.Through practical application,we focused on specific examples in Chapter 3,“Daylight Greenhouse,” and Chapter 8,“Soilless Cultivation,” to demonstrate the practical implementation process.The results of implementing the case teaching method in the “Horticultural Facilities” course have shown improvements in students’ learning interest,learning ability,comprehensive skills,and professional identity.This approach has also contributed to enhancing the overall teaching effectiveness of the “Horticultural Facilities” course.This study employs literature research,questionnaires,and interviews as the primary research methods.It establishes a teaching design process for the “Horticultural Facilities” course based on the case teaching method.The designed process is then implemented in actual teaching,followed by reflections and future prospects.The study aims to provide valuable insights and references for front-line teachers who wish to incorporate the case teaching method in their instruction of the “Horticultural Facilities”course.
