Abstract/Summary:
Feline panleukopenia(FP),commonly known as feline plague fever,is a feline clinical disease syndrome caused by feline panleukopenia virus(FPV)infection, which has always been an important infectious disease endangering feline animal health and seriously affecting the health and life of domestic cats as companion animals. In order to understand the prevalence of FPV in Chengdu urban area and the characteristics and regularity of FPV epidemic in this area,a total of 640 suspected FPV anal swab samples were collected and investigated in this study from 2021 to 2022,including a total of 20 pet hospitals in 9districts of Chengdu, which were diagnosed by colloidal gold dipstick method, and the selected parts were reviewed by real-time PCR.The pathogen epidemics were investigated and analyzed from animal age, gender, immunization, clinical manifestations and confirmed seasonality, and three positive cases were analyzed in detail for diagnosis and treatment. The results are as follows:1 Colloidal gold assay and quantitative fluorescence PCR were used to detect viral nucleic acid in some samples. The results showed that the coincidence rate was 100%,and the total detection rate of FPV was 46.56%(298/640).At the same time, pathogen epidemic analysis was performed according to animal age, gender, immunization, clinical manifestations and seasonality. The male to female ratio of suspected cases and positive cases was 1:1.33 and 1:1.42,with a high incidence at 2-3 months of age.The number of positive cases was the highest in March, accounting for 20.81%(62/298),with a high incidence in late winter and early spring. The degree of vaccination in the first year was correlated with the incidence of FP: unimmunized > one immunization > two immunization > three immunization.Foreign breeds of cats were less resistant to the disease accounting for 67.79%(202/298).The clinical symptoms of FP were vomiting and diarrhea.2 Three positive cases were selected for detailed diagnosis and treatment, and the severity of illness of three sick cats varied, mainly in combination with laboratory tests such as four-part blood routine, serum amyloid A(SAA),real-time PCR,and cat plague colloidal gold test strip to confirm the diagnosis. The treatment follows the principles of antiviral(using feline plague virus monoclonal antibody),anti-infection,antiemetic(antiemetic),antidiarrheal(Dalijian kaolin powder, antidiarrheal),hemostatic(vitamin K1)and other symptomatic treatment and supportive therapy(correcting dehydration, maintaining acid-base balance and preventing and treating provocative infection, etc.)in order to achieve a better therapeutic purpose.
