With the growth of the economic level of our people,crayfish as a delicious freshwater economic shrimp is widely accepted.Qianjiang,Hubei Province,as one of the main production areas of crayfish,with superior natural resources and production conditions.However,due to the rising cost of farming,the crayfish farming industry in Qianjiang is facing many dilemmas and there is a problem of low production technology efficiency,which seriously restricts the development of the local crayfish industry.In this paper,based on the data envelopment analysis method(DEA)and Tobit model,the current situation of crayfish farming in Qianjiang,Hubei Province was objectively described through field research with local farmers,the difficulties encountered in local farming were analyzed,the production technical efficiency of farmers was analyzed and measured,and the factors affecting the technical efficiency of farmers were studied,which found that(1)The average comprehensive technical efficiency of Qianjiang,Hubei Province was 0.5735,indicating that there is room for improving the technical efficiency of local farmers.(2)Farmers’ age,literacy,farming area and participation in technical training had a very significant positive effect on the technical efficiency of crayfish.(3)Local shrimp fry,feed,shrimp medicine,water and electricity redundancy of various inputs is high.(4)Bottlenecks that stifle the development of crayfish in Qianjiang mainly lie in crude farming methods and single farming model;inadequate infrastructure;low local organization and intensification;lack of farming talent;inadequate government supervision;serious pollution and waste;and lack of farming security.Finally,countermeasures and suggestions to improve the technical efficiency of crayfish farming production in Qianjiang are proposed in response to the problems encountered.
