| The main guide for grain to feed conversion is to plant whole plant silage maize, while promoting the planting of high quality forage grasses according to local conditions. In order to further promote the"grain to feed"initiative in Yunnan Province, and to explore the application prospects of alfalfa intercropping with whole plant silage maize in Kunming,we firstly used’Jiajialong 2’,’Qiaodan 6 The three silage maize varieties’Jiajialong No.2’,’Qiaodan No.6’and’Xuanhong No.18’were used as test materials to conduct variety comparison tests, and then the best planting specifications were determined by conducting plant spacing screening tests with the selected outstanding varieties as research objects. One plot of 3 m×5 m=15 m~2 was planted in each treatment, with three replications,to investigate the production performance of alfalfa intercropped(in the first year of alfalfa planting)and intercropped(in the second year of alfalfa growth)with whole planted silage maize. The following main results were obtained:1.’Qiaodan No.6’silage maize had the tallest plant, the largest panicle height of the first ear,and the best forage production performance, which were significantly different from’Jiajiarong No.2’and’Xuanhong No.18’silage maize(P<0.05).The dry matter yield of the whole plant was 28469.9 kg/hm~2 during the wax ripening period, which was 50.3%and51.3%higher than that of’Jiajiarong No.2’and’Xuanhong No.18’.’Qiaodan No.6’silage maize had the lowest content of neutral and acidic detergent fiber and the highest crude protein content(P<0.05).Considering the agronomic traits, nutrient content and production performance of each variety,it was concluded that’Qiaodan No.6’silage maize was suitable for promotion in Kunming area.2.Under the condition that the recommended planting density(57,000 plants/hm~2)of’Qiaodan No.6’is constant, the row spacing is appropriately increased, the plant spacing is reduced, the quality of silage corn forage is improved, and the yield is increased. When the planting specifications were 60 cm and 29 cm,the yield and crude protein content of whole silage corn grass were the highest during the wax ripening stage, which increased by 9.9%and 20.85%(P<0.05)compared with 55 cm×31 cm,respectively, and the difference in row spacing was not significant compared with 65 cm×27 cm,70 cm×25 cm(P>0.05).3.In the year of alfalfa sowing, alfalfa was intercropping with’Qiaodan No.6’silage corn. The hay yield of alfalfa in single(CK)and intercropping alfalfa was 1080.96 kg/hm~2and 627.15 kg/hm~2,respectively,The crude protein yields were 182.68 kg/hm~2and 118.47kg/hm~2,respectively,No significant difference was observed(P>0.05);The hay yield of whole-plant silage corn in single and intercropping fields was 12771.01 kg/hm~2and 15628.43kg/hm~2,respectively,The crude protein yields were 859.6 kg/hm~2 and 1211.2 kg/hm~2,The hay and crude protein yield of the whole plant maize increased by 22.4%and 40.9%,respectively(P<0.05).The hay and crude protein yield of mixed forage were 16255.58kg/hm~2 and 1329.67 kg/hm~2,which were 15.04 and 7.38 times that of alfalfa,respectively(P<0.05).4.In the second year of alfalfa growth, alfalfa was planted with’Qiaodan No.6’silage maize. The hay yield of alfalfa was 5216.8 kg/hm~2 and 4372.45 kg/hm~2,and crude protein yield was 808.08 kg/hm~2 and 769.99 kg/hm~2 in the monocrop(CK)and the set-aside,respectively,with no significant difference(P>0.05).The hay and crude protein yield of whole-plant maize were 14.58%and 13.97%higher(P<0.05)than those of maize in monocultures. The hay and crude protein yield of the alfalfa complex in the alfalfa-set maize field were as high as 22001.3 kg/hm~2 and 1897.18 kg/hm~2,which were 4.22 and 2.35 times higher than those of the alfalfa monoculture,respectively(P<0.05).5.The hay yield and crude protein yield of alfalfa field forage were as high as 38256.9kg/hm~2 and 3220.9 kg/hm~2,respectively,which were 6.1 times and 3.3 times the yield of alfalfa field hay and crude protein(P<0.01),respectively.In summary, alfalfa intercropping with whole-plant silage maize has broad application prospects in the Kunming area, with significantly higher production performance than alfalfa monocultures and significantly improved nutritional quality of alfalfa and whole-plant maize. |
