Research On The Problems And Countermeasures Of Pesticide Reduction Application Among Vegetable Growers In Chengdu

Against the backdrop of sustained economic growth and improving living standards,residents’ consumption needs are gradually rising,and the quality and safety of vegetables,as a daily necessity,are becoming more and more of a concern to consumers.China attaches great importance to the quality and safety of agricultural products,and has introduced and implemented policies to ensure food safety for many years,but unreasonable application of drugs in the process of agricultural production is common,and food quality problems occur from time to time,causing great inconvenience to people’s lives,and the negative impact has gradually become the focus of social concern.As the gatekeeper of vegetable production process,the way vegetable growers apply pesticides will have an important impact on the quality and safety of vegetables.Therefore,it is crucial to investigate the pesticide application behavior of vegetable farmers in the vegetable production process to ensure the "safety on the tip of the tongue" of consumers.In this paper,we analyze the current situation of pesticide application among vegetable growers in Chengdu based on field research data,analyze three cases of pesticide application among vegetable growers of different scales,summarize the problems and successful experiences in the process of pesticide application,and finally propose countermeasures to promote the scientific and standardized application of pesticides among vegetable growers.Firstly,this paper provides an overview of issues related to vegetable farmers’ pesticide application behavior at home and abroad,and explains the significance of the topic chosen for the paper.Secondly,the relevant concepts involved in this paper are defined and explained,while the rational smallholder theory,externality theory and sustainability theory are introduced to explain the problems of pesticide application by growers and lay the theoretical foundation for the subsequent research.Next,the overall status of pesticide application by vegetable growers in Chengdu was analyzed,and the main problems in the process of pesticide application by vegetable growers were condensed by combining macro data and micro survey data related to vegetable growing in Chengdu.It is found that the current vegetable growers mainly have some problems,such as low education level,insufficient knowledge of pesticides,small and scattered business scale,and imperfect related technical training system.Finally,in response to these problems,this paper proposes countermeasures to promote the reduced application of pesticides in terms of enhancing education and training,increasing publicity and promotion,accelerating intensive development,integrating training resources,researching and developing supporting equipment,and providing appropriate assistance and subsidies,in order to provide reference and reference for regulating the pesticide application behavior of growers and ensuring food security and the sustainable and healthy development of the vegetable industry.
