Objective: To analyze the clinical value of procalcitonin(Procalcitonin,PCT)in the early stage and prognosis of patients with acute craniocerebral injury. Methods: Twenty-seven patients with craniocerebral injury who were hospitalized in the Department of Neurosurgery of the second affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from February 2020 to February 2021 were selected as subjects.According to the GCS score on admission, the patients were divided into three groups: mild craniocerebral injury group(GCS13-15,n = 10),moderate craniocerebral injury group(GCS9-12,n= 10)and severe craniocerebral injury group(GCS3-8,n=7).Venous blood samples were collected from all patients on the day of admission, the 6th day and the 11 th day for serum PCT detection, and the relationship between serum PCT and GCS score was analyzed.According to the GOS score of follow-up 1-3 months after discharge, the patients were divided into two groups: good prognosis group(GOS4-5,n = 21)and poor prognosis group(GOS1-3,n = 6).The relationship between serum PCT and GOS score on the day of admission was analyzed. Results: The level of serum PCT in mild craniocerebral injury group, moderate craniocerebral injury group and severe craniocerebral injury group increased successively on the day of admission. There was a negative correlation between GCS score and serum PCT level in each group(r =-0.753,P < 0.05).There was a negative correlation between GOS score and serum PCT level at admission(r =-0.521,P < 0.05).On the day of admission, the serum PCT level in the good prognosis group was significantly higher than that in the poor prognosis group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: the level of serum PCT can be used to evaluate the severity of early acute craniocerebral injury and to evaluate the prognosis of the patients.
