| ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to understand the current situation and influencing factors of the critical thinking ability of newly recruited nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, and to construct a training program for new recruited nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals based on critical thinking ability so as to provide reference for the training of new recruited nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals for the promotion of the improvement of the critical thinking ability of newly recruited nurses.Methods1.Questionnaire Survey: A convenience sampling method was employed. From April to July 2021,285 new nurses from 9 traditional Chinese medicine hospitals were surveyed against the General Information Questionnaire and the Chinese version of the Critical Thinking Ability Scale. The General Information Questionnaire was filled out in frequencies and composition ratios(%)while the Chinese version of the Critical Thinking Ability Scale in mean±standard deviation for scores of various dimensions and total score. Two independent-sample t-tests and a one-way ANOVA procedure were utilized to compare the differences among various factors.Multiple linear regression was utilized to analyze the influencing factors for the critical thinking abilities of new nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals. The difference with P<0.05 was denoted as statistically significant.2.Delphi Expert Consultation: From October to December 2021,16 experts in nursing management, nursing education and clinical nursing were chosen for two rounds of expert consultation in the form of e-mails accompanied by paper-based questionnaires. After going through the expert opinions and suggestions and analyzing and revising accordingly, the training program has been finally established.Results1.The critical thinking ability of newly recruited nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals was scored from 156 to 365 points, with an average of(249.89±30.49)points.The overall critical thinking ability was at a low level. The factors of serotonin include gender, working years, education, professional title, type of internship hospital, nature of employment, satisfaction with the current job,and whether there is any related content at work(P<0.05);the results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender, working years,Educational background and work related content were the main factors affecting the critical thinking ability of new nurses in TCM hospital(P<0.05).2.Experts,aged between 40 and 60(49.38±7.49 years old on average),have been engaged in work-related or professional fields for 10~33 years(19.75 years on average),all of whom have bachelor degrees or above and associate senior titles or above. After two rounds of expert consultation,a training program on critical thinking for new nurses in the Chinese medicine hospitals was finally proposed. The positive coefficient of two rounds of expert consultation stood at 100% while the expert authority coefficient was 0.84;The importance scores of the tertiary indicators in the first round were 4.75~5.00,4.06~5.00 and 2.56~5.00 respectively; The coefficients of variation of the tertiary indicators were0.00~0.09,0.00~0.17 and 0.00~0.35 respectively.Kendall’s coefficients of concordance were 0.179,0.359 and 0.494 respectively. The importance scores of the tertiary indicators in the second round were 4.69~5.00,4.13~5.00,3.81~5.00 respectively;the coefficients of variation of the tertiary indicators were 0.00~0.13,0.00~0.16 and 0.00~0.20 respectively.Kendall’s coefficients of concordance were 0.199,0.359 and 0.333 respectively. The two rounds of expert consultation concluded that the primary indicators remained unchanged,1secondary indicator and 11 tertiary indicators were incorporated,2 secondary indicators and 7 tertiary indicators were modified,1 tertiary indicator was combined into other tertiary indicators and 10 tertiary indicators were deleted. After referring to experts’ opinions,a training program on critical thinking program has finally been established for new nurses in the traditional Chinese medicine hospitals. The program is comprised of training objectives, training contents, training implementation and training evaluation with4 primary indicators,17 secondary indicators and 87 tertiary indicators.Conclusions1.The critical thinking abilities of new nurses in the traditional Chinese medicine hospitals surveyed in this study exhibit a relatively low level where further improvement is warranted.2.The factors that affect the critical thinking abilities of new nurses in the traditional Chinese medicine hospitals include gender, working years, educational attainment, professional titles, types of hospitals where the intern training was received, nature of employment, level of satisfaction with the current job,and whether the critical thinking was involved in work.3.On the basis of literature research and theoretical research, after two rounds of expert consultation, the training program on critical thinking for new nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals has been established. The scientific, reliable and feasible training program will provide a reference for the cultivation of critical thinking abilities of new nurses in the traditional Chinese medicine hospitals. |
