| As an important carrier of cultural exchange between Chinese and Western medicine,sinologists overseas play a pivotal role in the process of Chinese medicine going global.European Sinologist Elisabeth Hsu’s work Pulse Diagnosis in Early Chinese Medicine:The Telling Touch studies Chunyu Yi,a Chinese doctor in the Western Han Dynasty.As an "other" in terms of ethnic and intellectual background,Hsu’s research on Chinese medicine and culture has extraordinary value and significance.This study adopts the method of literature collation,and conducts a detailed analysis of Hsu’s Pulse Diagnosis in Early Chinese Medicine:The Telling Touch and related content through CNKI,Duxiu academic search and other media,and comprehensively and systematically investigates Hsu’s contribution to pulsology of Chinese medicine and their terminology translation and analysis and evaluation them objectively.This study is generally divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion,of which the body is divided into four parts.The first chapter begins with a review and commentary on the academic history of European sinologists’ s cognition of Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis since 17 th century.It can be summarized into two stages: the first stage is the 17 th century.From missionaries in the 20 th century to Joseph Needham in the 20 th century based on the knowledge of "Western medicine" as the standard;the second stage is the comparative understanding of the relative equality of Chinese and Western medicine of science historian Sivin and Hsu.In addition,this chapter also tries to present the purpose and significance of studying Hsu’s works objectively and comprehensively from the research perspective of the history of exchanges between China and the West.The second chapter is to study Hsu’s personal experience and related academic achievements.Hsu has a complex subject knowledge background.Due to the barriers of culture and Hsu’s personal interest in the knowledge of pulsology of Chinese medicine,her works present us with a different understanding of the knowledge of pulsology of Chinese medicine.The third chapter is an introduction to the writing process and the content of the book Pulse Diagnosis in Early Chinese Medicine: The Telling Touch.Based on Hsu’s master’s thesis,this book has been developed into a book of about 200,000 words.In terms of specific content,this chapter mainly introduces Hsu’s new methods and new perspectives in studying medical cases,such as the text research method of "text structural semantics" and the research perspective of historical anthropology.In addition,this chapter summarizes the structure,content and results of Hsu’s analysis of the first ten medical cases.The fourth chapter is the content and value analysis of Pulse Diagnosis in Early Chinese Medicine: The Telling Touch.Hsu translated the medical records from the perspective of cultural equality and interpreted Chun Yuyi’s new understanding of pulsology of Chinese medicine from the text.In addition,this chapter also sorts out the corruption of the book.From the perspective of dissemination,Hsu broke the language barrier for foreign scholars to study Canggong Zhuan,and laid a foundation for foreign scholars to interpret and study Chunyuyi’s medical cases.Hsu’s interpretation of Chunyuyi’s knowledge of pulsology also opened up a new perspective for contemporary scholars to study it.This study analyzes the monograph Pulse Diagnosis in Early Chinese Medicine: Telling Touch by the sinologist Hsu.The conclusions are as follows:First,the new method of studying medical records deserves the attention of contemporary scholars;second,Hsu emphasized the innovation of Chunyu Yi pulse diagnosis,which provided ideas for the rheological process of pulseof Chinese medicine;third,Hsu explained Sima Qian’s use of A few writing and editing techniques deftly transform Chunyuyi into a synthesis of authenticity and interpretation that illuminates the study of the social history of medicine. |
