Objective:Doctors’ job burnout occurs frequently,and their working status is closely related to people’s health.The purpose of this study was to understand the doctors’ job burnout in public hospitals and the its influencing factors,and to explore the relationships between role stress,regulatory emotional self-efficacy,mental health and job burnout and their action path,in order to provide theoretical support and reference for the prevention and improvement of doctors’ job burnout syndrome.Methods:This study was conducted by doctors in public hospitals of Jilin Province in northeast China during December 2021.In this study,using a combination of stratified random sampling and quota sampling,we selected doctors from 124 public hospitals in Jilin Province for a questionnaire survey.2379 valid questionnaires were finally obtained after screening,with an effective recovery rate of 98.43%.Epidata3.1 was used for data entry and export,IBM SPSS 24.0 and Smart PLS 3 for data operation and analysis.Descriptive analysis and non-parametric tests were used to analyze the general demographic characteristics of the respondents and the scores of the scales;binary Logistic regression was used to further analyze the effects of socio-demographic characteristics,role stress,regulatory emotional self-efficacy,and mental health on doctors’ job burnout;PLS-SEM was used to verify the paths of role stress,egulatory emotional self-efficacy,and mental health on job burnout.Results:(1)There were 675(28.37%)doctors with job burnout in public hospitals of Jilin province;The positive rate of personal accomplishment dimension was the highest(21.27%);(2)The results of univariate analysis showed that there were statistical differences in doctors’ job burnout scores in gender,department,average monthly income,daily working hours,and night shift(P< 0.05);Binary logistics regression showed that surgeons were 1.469 times more likely to develop burnout than physicians(95%CI: 1.064-2.029),doctors with an average monthly income of 8,001 yuan or above were 0.503 times more likely to develop burnout than those with an average monthly income of 4,000 yuan or less(95%CI: 0.329-0.771),at the same time,role stress,regulatory emotional self-efficacy,and mental health were the influencing factors of doctors’ burnout(P < 0.001);(3)Doctors’ role stress positively affected job burnout(P < 0.001),the direct effect coefficient was 0.372;doctors’ regulatory emotional self-efficacy negatively affected job burnout(P < 0.001),the direct effect coefficient was-0.168;and doctors’ mental health positively affected job burnout(P < 0.001),the direct effect coefficient was 0.419;(4)Regulatory emotional self-efficacy played a mediating role between role stress and job burnout(P < 0.001),the indirect effect coefficient was 0.087;mental health played a mediating role between role stress and job burnout(P < 0.001),the indirect effect coefficient was 0.165;regulatory emotional self-efficacy and mental health played a chain mediating role between role stress and job burnout(P < 0.001),the indirect effect coefficient was 0.059.Conclusions:(1)Doctors’ job burnout in public hospitals of Jilin province is not optimistic.We should focus on strengthening doctors’ personal sense of achievement.(2)Gender,department,monthly average income,daily working hours,night shift,role stress,regulatory emotional self-efficacy and mental health are the factors influencing doctors’ job burnout in public hospitals.We should pay more attention to these factors and take targeted measures to intervene.(3)Doctors’ role stress plays a positive role in job burnout;regulatory emotional self-efficacy plays a negative role in job burnout;mental health plays a positive role in job burnout.It is necessary to reduce the stress of doctors,pay attention to the cultivation doctors’ emotional regulation ability,and constantly enhance their mental toughness.(4)Doctors’ Regulatory emotional self-efficacy plays a mediating role between role stress and job burnout(P < 0.001);mental health plays a mediating role between role stress and job burnout(P < 0.001);regulatory emotional self-efficacy and mental health play a chain mediating role between role stress and job burnout(P < 0.001).The effect of role stress on job burnout can be alleviated by improving doctors’ emotional adjustment ability and mental health literacy.
