Objectives:The effect of a combination of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)using the sequential method and celecoxib on the symptoms and signs of patients with lumbar disc herniation(Qi stagnation and blood stasis type)was investigated. Methods:Between December 2021 and December 2022,90 patients with LDH were randomly assigned to one of three groups: control,TCM,and TCM combined with celecoxib. The control group received twice-daily celecoxib.TCM was used to treat the TCM group using the sequential method, consisting of oral administration of Huoxue Tongluo Decoction and functional exercise including Xiaoyanfei and the plate support method. The TCM group combined with celecoxib was treated for 4 weeks. The observation indexes and overall clinical effect of the three groups were discussed after 2 and 4 weeks of treatment.Results:1.Before treatment, there was no significant difference in age, gender,or course between the three groups(P>0.05),but VAS,JOA,and lumbar flexion, extension, and lateral flexion were comparable(P>0.05).2.VAS score,intra-group comparison: After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment, there was a significant difference in VAS score between the three groups(P<0.05).After 2 weeks and4 weeks of treatment, there was no significant difference in VAS scores between the control group and the TCM group(P>0.05),but there was a significant difference between the TCM group and the control group and the TCM group(P<0.05).3.JOA score,intra-group comparison: There was a significant difference in JOA score between the three groups after 2 and 4 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in JOA score between the control and TCM groups after 2 weeks of treatment(P>0.05),but there was a significant difference after 4 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).4.After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment, the improvement in lumbar flexion, extension, and lateral flexion was significantly different between the three groups(P<0.05),with the TCM and WM groups showing the greatest improvement. There was no significant difference in lumbar flexion between the control and TCM groups after 2 weeks of treatment(P>0.05),but there was a significant difference after 4 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment, there was a significant difference between the control group and the TCM group in the improvement of lumbar extension and lateral flexion(P<0.05),but there was a significant difference between the TCM group and the control group and the TCM group(P<0.05).5.Evaluation of overall efficacy: 1 patient was cured,6 patients were significantly improved,16 patients were improved,7 patients were ineffective, and the total effective rate in the control group was 76.67%.Three patients were cured, ten were significantly improved, twelve were improved, five were ineffective, and the overall effective rate was83.33% in the TCM group. In the traditional Chinese and western medicine groups,5patients were cured,14 patients were markedly improved,9 patients were improved,2patients were ineffective, and the overall effective rate was 93.33%.After four weeks of treatment, the difference between the three groups was obvious(P<0.05),and TCM and WM had a better curative effect than the other two groups(P<0.05).6.Adverse reactions: Following treatment, blood tests(liver and kidney function, blood routine, coagulation function)and routine defecation and defecation indexes were rechecked on patients in three groups. The results revealed no obvious abnormality and no adverse reaction to the experiment, such as drug allergy, liver and kidney function damage, gastrointestinal bleeding, and so on.Conclusion:1.The sequential application of TCM and celecoxib can improve the symptoms and signs of Qi stagnation and blood stasis type LDH,as well as the lumbar spine activity and quality of life.2.The sequential method of TCM combined with celecoxib can clearly improve the symptoms and signs of Qi stagnation and blood stasis type LDH,improve lumbar vertebral activity, and improve quality of life.
