Objective:To observe the clinical effects of wo xuan acupuncture in the treatment of sarcopenia in the elderly with a weak spleen and stomach, and to provide new knowledge for the clinical treatment of sarcopenia in the elderly with a weak spleen and stomach. Methods:Sixty elderly patients with sarcopenia in the elderly with a weak spleen and stomach, who met the study criteria were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received a basic intervention(resistance exercise+nutritional support),and the treatment period was four weeks. In the treatment group, the basic intervention was supplemented with wo xuan acupuncture method, right Xinmen, right Zusanli, left Taichong, left Taibai were chosen as the acupuncture points, and treatment was given six consecutive days a week with one day of rest. Before and after treatment, appendicular skeletal muscle mass index(ASMI),activity of daily living(ADL)score,TCM syndrome score, serum albumin(ALB)and prealbumin(PA)levels were observed. The clinical efficacy and safety of wo xuan acupuncture in the treatment of senile sarcopenia with spleen and stomach weakness were evaluated by comparing the treatment efficacy of the two groups.Results:1.There were no significant differences(P>0.05)between the two groups in baseline data such as sex, age, height, and weight, which were comparable.2.Comparison of measures related to skeletal muscle function:before treatment, grip strength,6-meter walking speed and ASMI scores were comparable in both groups(P>0.05);after 4 weeks of intervention treatment, grip strength,6-meter walking speed and ASMI scores improved in both groups compared to those before treatment(P<0.05);comparison between groups:Compared with the control group, grip strength,6-meter walking speed and ASMI scores improved speed and ASMI scores improved compared with the control group. The differences were statistically significant.3.Comparison of serum nutritional indices:before treatment ALB and PA levels in serum of patients from both groups were comparable(P>0.05);after 4 weeks of treatment within-group comparison:ALB and PA serum levels of patients in both groups increased compared with the period before treatment(P<0.05);intergroup comparison:compared with the control group,ALB and PA serum levels increased in the treatment group The increase was more pronounced, and the difference was statistically significant.4.Comparison of ADL scores:ADL scores of both groups before treatment were comparable(P>0.05);4 weeks after intervention,within-group comparison:ADL scores of both groups improved compared to those before treatment(P<0.05);between-group comparison:ADL scores in the treatment group improved more significantly than in the control group, difference was statistically significant Sources.5.Comparison of evidence-based TCM points:The evidence-based TCM points of the two groups were compared before starting treatment because they were comparable(P>0.05);after 4 weeks of intervention,within-group comparison:both groups showed a decrease in TCM syndrome scores compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);inter-group comparison:the treatment group showed a significant decrease in TCM syndrome scores compared with the control group, and the difference was statistically significant.6.Efficacy Assessment:After four weeks of intervention, the overall efficacy rate in the treatment group was 86.67%(26/30)and the overall efficacy rate in the control group was 63.33%(19/30).Data from the two groups were compared using theX~2test P=0.002(P<0.05)and the difference was found to be statistically significant.Conclusion:1.Among the participants in this study, both wo xuan acupuncture combined with the basic intervention and the basic intervention alone improved grip strength,6-meter walking speed,ASMI,ADL,TCM evidence score, and serum ALB and PA levels after 4weeks of intervention.2.In the treatment of sarcopenia in the elderly with a weak spleen and stomach, the combination of wo xuan acupuncture and basic intervention was more effective than basic intervention alone in improving clinical symptoms, serum nutrition index and TCM evidence score, which suggests that the combination of wo xuan acupuncture in the treatment of sarcopenia in the elderly with a weak spleen and stomach has remarkable clinical effect and deserves clinical application and popularization.
