| Objective:To analyze the distribution of ACE gene I/D polymorphism in different altitudes of Naxi minority, and explore its relationship with high altitude adaptation, hypertension and dyslipidemia in the Naxi minority of Lijiang,Yunnan,China. This study aims to investigate the influence of genetic polymorphism on high altitude adaptation and disease.Materials and Methods:Eight Naxi villages from high-altitude and mid-altitude areas in Lijiang,Yunnan were randomly selected using stratified random sampling.A total of265 unrelated,three-generation resident Naxi individuals with no outside ethnic marriage were selected and their ACE gene I/D was genotyped. The association between ACE gene I/D polymorphism and altitude, hypertension and dyslipidemia in Naxi minority was analyzed using statistical methods. Results: 1.The frequencies of three genotypes(II,ID and DD)showed statistical difference in Naxi minority from different altitudes(P<0.05);The frequency of ACE gene I allele and II/ID genotype containing I allele in high-altitude Naxi minority was significantly higher than that in mid-altitude(P<0.05).2.There was a significant difference in the frequencies of three genotypes(II,ID,DD)between the hypertension and non-hypertension group(P<0.05),and the frequency of ACE gene I allele and II/ID genotype containing I allele were higher in the hypertension group than in the non-hypertension group(P<0.01).3.The frequency of ACE gene I allele was higher in the dyslipidemia group than in the normal group(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the frequency of each genotype between the two groups(P>0.05).There was a statistical difference in triglyceride levels among the three genotypes(P<0.05),and the overall mean of triglyceride level in II genotype was significantly higher than that in DD genotype(P<0.05).4.There was a statistically significant difference in the frequencies of three genotypes and two allele frequencies between Naxi and Tibetan minoritys(P<0.001),and the frequency of I allele in the Tibetan minority was significantly higher than that in high-altitude Naxi. Conclusion: ACE gene I/D polymorphism is related to high altitude adaptation, hypertension and dyslipidemia in Naxi minority.II/ID genotypes and I allele are beneficial for high altitude adaptation in high-altitude Naxi minority, but increase the risk of hypertension in Naxi minority. The I allele is a risk factor for dyslipidemia in Naxi minority, and the II genotype is associated with higher triglyceride level. |
