Rabies can be prevented and controlled, but still cannot be cured. So far,it is the highest fatality rate of human acute infectious diseases.Calling the elimination of rabies a global public health issue,WHO has set a goal of zero deaths from dog-mediated rabies globally by 2030.In recent years, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant government departments have attached great importance to this goal, carried out a series of actions and achieved remarkable results in the prevention and control of rabies. However, with the vigorous development of pet economy and pet raising culture, the density of urban dogs is constantly increasing, which brings potential risks for the spread of rabies. In this paper, quantitative and qualitative research were combined.Based on questionnaire and interview data, descriptive statistical analysis and independent sample T-test were adopted to study the current situation of knowledge, practice and demographic characteristics of rabies prevention and control among urban dog owners,so as to explore the current situation of knowledge, attitude and behavior of rabies prevention and control among urban dog owners and the existing problems. It was found that urban dog owners had a low level of knowledge and practice of rabies prevention and control, and insufficient knowledge of rabies prevention and control. The overall knowledge rate of human immunization related rabies was high, but the knowledge rate of dog rabies prevention and control was low.The attitude of rabies prevention and control is positive, but the level of prevention and control behavior needs to be improved, and the rabies vaccine injection for dogs and dog breeding management behavior are not standardized.Studies have also shown that urban dog owners’ anthropomorphize ’dogs, hindering dog management and immunization efforts.Young people in urban dog ownership groups prefer to obtain information about dog ownership from social media pet bloggers and pet raising communities. Therefore,it is suggested to enhance the dissemination of rabies prevention and control knowledge, and emphasize the severity and susceptibility of rabies among urban dog owners.Establish a "kennel club" in the community to create a civilized dog-raising atmosphere and advocate the adoption of stray dogs.Give full play to the role of pet bloggers and other social media "opinion leaders",and cooperate with KOL bloggers in the medical field to create content to carry out rabies health transmission. When disseminating dog immunization knowledge, dog health and feeding knowledge can be used as an entry point. In addition,it is suggested to continue to carry out dog immunization publicity and promotion in urban areas and communities with high dog density, and carry out community activities of dog immunization services and large-scale signature activities of "Start with me",so as to improve the dog immunization rate,so as to better control urban rabies.
