This paper aims to investigate the communication effects of public health emergency from the perspective of health communication with empirical research method. The typical public health emergency-A H1N1 influenza-is adopted for case study. Two influential newspapers Beijing youth daily and Nan Fang daily are selected for the case analysis. In overall, the two newspapers are similar in the report amounts, with only some difference in the resource of the news. As regard to the emphasis, both of them stress on the epidemic spread, knowledge introduction and prevention policies. These valuable conclusions provide favorable support for the questionnaire research.The questionnaire survey mainly studies the effects of A H1N1 influenza reports in terms of cognition, attitude and behavior as well as the reasons of the survey results. Furthermore the relationship between medium, government and audience are studied based on specific cases to investigate the communication effects, and the agenda-setting diagram are obtained. Above all, we hope the conclusions from content analysis and questionnaire research can benefit the media on countermeasures and material methods when dealing with public health emergency.
